Description: Apsara Samudra is an ocean front restaurant specializing in Authentic Indian and Thai food. The restaurant has been decorated to a very high standard and great care is taken in the preparation of the food and the service of the dishes. The location, perched on a cliff edge provides a very dramatic backdrop.

My wife and I just spent a very enjoying and restful vacation in Barbados. This was a “pay as you go” not inclusive vacation so we had the delight to try out a good number of restaurants. Apsara Sumadra offers the typical Indian cuisine with refinement. The location is gorgeous and from the onset upon your arrival you enjoy a special atmosphere that is rather unique to the Apsara Sumadra. Yet you are in the middle of the St Lawrence gap ! We walked away from this restaurant with culinary and scenic memories. Thank you to all the folks that made this meal such a memorable event.

My husband can't stop telling people how much he enjoyed our evening here. Gorgeous atmosphere! Service was excellent. The menu was huge, and for people like my husband (who had never had Indian food before), the dishes were well described. We both enjoyed our dinners very much.

Found this place while walking through St. Lawrence Gap. We had enjoyed island food most other nights, so this appealed to is. The view is wonderful, The swing at the table was romantic. The food was delicious, and they had vegetarian and vegan options. The service was attentive, but we also did not feel pressured to hurry. The paneer I requested to be spicy, and it did not disappoint. A great end to our honeymoon.

My husband and I went for dinner here last night based on a recommendation from a fellow holiday maker. It is a lovely restaurant, decor is beautiful inside and the setting outside is on a terrace overlooking the sea and is beautifully lit up and very romantic. My husband and I had looked at the menu online before we went to the restaurant and we were planning on getting a Thai starter platter and Pad Thai for mains. When we got the menu the Thai starters were not available and we asked one waitress she said we could order it and then another told us the Thai starters were unavailable. That was fine we ordered something else which was delicious. The prices on the online menu had gone up considerably and the price of the pad Thai had gone up about $7 bd each. Please bear this in mind when you’re looking at the menu online.

When we received the bill, we were shocked with the amount it came to. VAT was added to the food and drinks and a 10% service charge too.

We’ve been in Barbados for a week and never had the VAT added as an extra and we could not see this displayed on the menu and weren’t informed by the staff.

So in total, a naan bread, two pad Thai (one chicken, one shrimp) and 5 banks beers came to £67 or $191 bd. Making this the most overpriced and least value for money meal of our holiday in Barbados.
