Description: Located beachfront under a Guyanese greenheart wood pavilion without walls, pureocean restaurant in Barbados is the epitome of Caribbean al fresco dining. Executive Chef Henderson Butcher is a forward thinking chef who takes his farm-to-table, dock-to-dish restaurant concept seriously - growing the majority of fresh herbs used in the restaurant on property. His menus feature creative twists on local Bajan foods, like the Pure Pork & Bake with aromatic smoked pork and sweet potatoes topped with ginger onion jam, and the Flying Fish Pop, a herb crusted flying fish and plantain lollipop with tomato and orange sauce.

My wife and I just spent a very enjoying and restful vacation in Barbados. This was a “pay as you go” not inclusive vacation so we had the delight to try out a good number of restaurants. We were attracted to Pure Ocean because of its setting and interesting architecture. However the lighting within the restaurant needs to be modified so that you don’t have the sensation that you are eating in a cafeteria. Moreover, the music definitely needs to be addressed… live FM radio is not what you want to hear is this kind of restaurant. Overall the meals were good, with a certain level of refinement and service was professional. However, portions are too big. A greener planet starts in the plate.

Nice location...but even better locations down the beach where you will pay a quarter of the price for a bog standard rum. Check the prices before you get totally ripped off!

Had our last dinner here before leaving for the cold north! Tiki torches lighting the pathways, large comfortable snuggle chairs and a table by the ocean made for our perfect last night. Food was fantastic and drinks were amazing!

A lovely, romantic, delicious dinner after a busy travel day. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Setting with torches lighting our path in was so nice and a table next to the beach top it! Food was tasty and presented nicely. A great experience.
