My husband and I came here for our honeymoon after never having been to Barbados before and picked this hotel since it seemed to be a good deal for an oceanfront view. The view was very nice. The hotel and room itself is average. The service is very poor with the exception of Carlton at the front desk who was the only employee who was friendly and helpful. Most every other employee made us feel like we were intruding. I don't know if they don't like Americans or what. They are in need of good management to run the place and improve customer service. The cleaning staff always did a good job. The area around the hotel is not that great. There was a bad sewage smell nearby and we were told they were "draining the swamp" and not to swim nearby since it was going into the ocean so we never went in the water there. We spent most of our time at other beaches. There is a restaurant onsite but it never appeared to be busy, the curtains were always closed so we weren't sure if it was even open. They really need to open it up and make it more inviting. After having spent time in most parts of the island during our weeklong stay there, we would not come back here or to that area of the island.

My sister and I just returned home from a two week vacation in Barbados and we stayed at Coral Sands. This is a review of the Coral Sands Beach Resort and not a comment on the sewage problems or the Sargassum moss that has invaded the Caribbean. Those problems are for another forum. We go to Barbados every year and this was our first time staying at Coral Sands......and it was fantastic. The rooms are very spacious and very well cared for. The decor is very tropical and kept in top shape. There is a large beautiful balcony overlooking the sea. Our room had two double beds, a glass top table with four chairs, a Large TV, three separate areas with lots of drawer space. The bathroom had two sinks, two separate cupboards with shelves as well as a places to hang clothes. The shower and toilet are in a separate adjoining room. There is also a safe in the room. If you don’t find you have enough places to store your “stuff” you are packing way too much. There is a kitchen with fridge, microwave and four burner cooktop. Everyone we had dealings with at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. They also have an elevator which is a bonus. The pool is very well looked after. There is a bar by the pool and you can order food there as well. Looking forward to staying there again.

Our second time at this hotel, so yes, we liked it enough to return. Hotel is quiet, non smoking, the rooms all face the sea and are very spacious with tons of storage space, a spacious balcony and a fully equipped kitchen. A small pool and pool deck round out the hotel's amenities.
The staff, with one notable exception are polite and friendly. The maids do an excellent job cleaning the rooms. Our maid even washed our dishes for us. So nice. The 'notable exception' is one female front desk staff. On our first day, I accidentally broke a glass, which fell off our balcony. My husband went downstairs to apologize and help to clean up. The lady at the front desk shoved a broom into his hands and looked seriously annoyed at this 'disturbance'. The next morning as we were heading out, we said hello to her, and she just glared at us and said nothing. Wow. You would think that with the present unemployment rate in this country that people would be happy to have a job.
The big issue with this hotel, and sadly the hotel cannot do much about it, is the current state of the south coast sewer system. This is a huge problem all over the south coast and it's as nasty as the reports state. Sewers are constantly bubbling over, workmen are digging holes into the ground to work on this, and the stench of sewer gas is everywhere and constant. If it hasn't rained, and you see a puddle, don't step into it. :( To add insult to injury, suice gates are being opened daily to allow for drainage of some swamps into the sea. There are public notices posted not to swim in the sea at various times of day. And as if that wasn't enough, the onslaught of sargassum weed has been so fierce, that the once clear and turquoise water here has been turned several shades of beige and brown. Red flags dot the beaches, as a result.
Under normal circumstances, I would return to this hotel without question, esp. if the price were right. However, until some of these issues are resolved, I will look for hotels further up the coast where the water and beaches are still clear and clean, and where there is a lack of sewage smell.

Room Tip: bottom level rooms front the pool

Stayed here for 8 beautiful days in April 2018 during a horrific ice storm back home. Resort was clean, kitchen amenities in room were as described and views were spectacular. I traveled alone (single female in mid 30's) and felt safe at all times both on and off resort. I ventured off-resort for scuba diving (SeaHorse Divers) and turtle snorkeling trip and bar hopped to at least a dozen places. I enjoyed the location of the grocery store, the Gap for bars and the view of the sunset at the resort was beautiful (topped only by Greece so far...lol). All in all, a lovely spot IF you are an older couple, or honeymooners or anyone that literally wants SILENCE at a resort. It was painfully quiet. No music, no central gathering point for socializing, no onsite scene. The hype of "Crystal Waters" a few doors down was applicable to that same genre (older couples and honeymooners who wish to blissfully make out with out others noticing). THE GAP made up for the lack of socialization elsewhere. Made a few new friends. And the Fish Fry in Oistins was fantastic. All in all, a great vacacy (altho a little bored by day 5) but for the price I have seen more modern resorts in the world, with greater activity, more lively crowd and better amenities. Just one opinion

Nice small resort with a lot going for it! The beautiful beach right outside your balcony cannot be beat, and the location was great, walking distance to grocery shopping, restaurants and the Gap.
Oistins on Friday night is a must, we took the bus from the resort, 2.00 per person each way and so much fun.
Can’t wait to go back to Barbados, and definitely stay at the Coral Sands.
