Stayed at the Pernera Beach 23 July - 30 July. Check in although very late - welcome was superb from Stavros gave us a lot of information including booking in advance for the a-la-cartes and took our details for a request for late check-out on our departure.
We had booked a superior sea view room and it was great (it was in the new block) and was overlooking the grassed area about 50 metres from the sea - gorgeous! For us perfect it was lovely and quiet and a superb view of the sea whilst laying in bed. Rooms were very spacious and modern, tea and coffee facilities provided together with a brilliant little fridge. Excellent air conditioning and free safe. We were also provided with lovely fluffy white robes and slippers. Room was kept spotless by our chambermaid not sure what she was called but she was always so cheery and smiley despite the 40+ degree heat!!
Food & Drinks
Food was very good and always hot. Lots of choices for lunch and dinner I felt literally spoilt for choice. Lots of different salads and copious amounts of meat available. Breakfast was good not as much choice but it is breakfast!! Late breakfast was available 10.00 - 11.00 but it was only continental but it was great and not as busy. Mealtimes did feel a bit chaotic with lots of people but there were always tables available. Sanitizer was available at the entrance when you were greeted but not many people used it - thought as you were greeted it they could give you a quick squirt at the time so to speak. Air conditioning in the restaurants was not great so very often it was a relief to leave which is a shame as the restaurants you eat in for lunch and dinner overlook the sea and have gorgeous outlooks. A-la-cartes were excellent do book as soon as you arrive because they do get booked up and they are also used for weddings. We preferred Thallasa it was absolutely perfect, delicious food and beautiful views, very romantic and fabulous service - staff were excellent.
Drinks we felt were overloaded with cheap syrupy liquids and didn't taste great to be honest. We kept to bottled water. You have a bottle in your little fridge in your room on arrival and then you have to re-fill yourself from a water machine by the bar in the outside entertainment area. We used to fill up in the evening and then put in the back of your fridge - time morning comes its frozen very refreshing when your working hard laying on your sun lounger! We did have a few nice drinks in the a-la-cartes but they came off the special cocktail menu so were not part of the all inclusive - superb mojitos made with branded alcohol.
We are not really pool people and prefer to sit on the beach or somewhere where you can see the sea. The Hotel had two pools, one was adults only and the other was a family pool together with a toddler area we felt considering the size of the hotel the pools could have done with being larger but having walked around the area most of the pools seemed to be of a small size for the hotel size. We chose to sit on the grassed area in front of our room, very often we didn't get down til 10.30 am but still plenty of sun loungers available, superb view of the sea - no tap dancing because the ground was too hot to walk on and a two minute walk to swim off a concrete slipway with easy access into the water which was nearby - the sea was amazing, and so warm. Beach looked nice but very busy.
Didn't really see any although the entertainment team helped to greet before dinner - we chose to go out most evenings.
It was a very relaxing, quiet week away which is just what we needed, ideally situated a five minute walk from shops and restaurants to have a potter around and a bus stop that will take you into Protaras Centre, should you want something more lively.
All in all we were very happy with the Pernera Beach and having visted the Atlantica Sea Breeze a couple of years ago we feel that the Pernera Beach is far superior and wouldn't hesitate to return. We feel with a few tweaks the Pernera Beach could be a 4 star!!
