I’m afraid that I cannot understand why others rate this hotel so highly. I note that many older people return often.

I paid for a sea view but mainly looked out directly at the hotel extension rooftop opposite. I wish I’d saved money by booking a side sea view ... because that is what I got. The balcony is small in standard rooms. The bathroom lacks a shelf, but the l’Occitane products are lovely and were replenished daily.

The sun beds are crammed together in a small footprint because the hotel extension has reduced the common areas. The beach may be pleasant for Cyprus, but again there are so many sun beds on it, you can hardly see the sand! The new smaller pool is quieter and we were lucky enough to get sun beds there. They are very heavy. If only they had wheels!

We had dinner in Mama’s only once after being served the same mousaka cold twice. My partner’s chips were also cold. The Capo Bay burger at lunchtime was small and very dry. I only ate half of mine. It’s more of a cafe than a restaurant although the young staff were lovely. The food is very hit and miss and overpriced ... as are the drinks.

Koi restaurant was the best of the three and we loved the food and generous portions. It is also a tranquil environment. It is a pity though that food dishes are carried here from a central kitchen ... uncovered and on cold plates.

We also had dinner once in the Italian restaurant. Our expensive steaks were lukewarm, the chips which the waiter had forgotten to order, arrived rushed and not cooked properly, making them pale and soggy. We did not receive the caramelised onions. Our bill for this experience was almost €100.

The hotel restaurants are overpriced and underused, especially at night. In my view management need to look at this. The buffets are reduced to weekly. The carpet in the main breakfast area is very badly stained.

The WiFi is very annoying. You have to log in daily and it frequently cuts out.
I was aware of heavy smoking in several areas of the hotel, including the restaurants because they are all outdoor.

Sorry to say that for all the reasons I have mentioned, I will not return. To get this into perspective, I have travelled the world for 40 years and this has been the most disappointing holiday.

Dear guest,

Thank you for your recent stay and the time taken to share a review.
The Capo Bay teams strives to create great memories for our guests, hence we see a very high percentage of them back, again and again. We regret to read that we didn't do so with you and this makes us all sad. Please accept our apologies.
May I take the liberty and clarify only a particular point - the hotel has 3 different kitchens, one for each restaurant and the hot dishes for Koi guests are being prepared in the KOI kitchen and they are being uncovered only just prior we serve them to the clients.
Once again, thank you for sharing your feedback and I hope you will give us the opportunity to redeem ourselves.

Sincerely,

Best wishes from Protaras, Cyprus

Very efficient booking - easy parking- quick check in - clean room - but very small - barely enough room to work on a laptop - lack of electrical outlets - very good balcony and excellent air condition - excellent breakfast and quick and easy check out.

Thank you dear guest, for your recent stay and for the time spared to share a short yet good review.
Yes, is true, some of the rooms could have done with more sockets , which is easily said but practically more complicated to be implemented. However for business people, we do have available extension and on the next visit, make sure you ask our reception for one.
Till your return visit, in good health and spirit, stay well!
Kind regards

This was our first visit to the Capo Bay for about seven years, but we need not have worried, it still typifies elegance and good service in an understated manner.
All the staff are polite, friendly and actually want to help you have an enjoyable time with them - service everywhere is exemplary.
The dining and bar venues are varied in style but fit in with the general ambience of the hotel.
Rooms are stylish and well equiped.
The much mentioned sun bed system works as smoothly as always - quite why other hotels don't operate like this is a mystery.
To be pedantic some of the common areas (corridors and the like) are looking a little tired, so out of 20 I'd score 19 - but still 5 out of 5 from me!
Thoroughly recommended.

Room tip: You're overlooking Fig Tree Bay so it has to be a sea view room.

Staff very efficient and helpful. The reason why we return year after year. Changes have been made to the catering arrangements which offer greater variety to guests but at the same time keeping the high quality of food and service.

First time in Cyprus and picked the almost perfect hotel. Great staff and service throughout the hotel. Lovely sea view room but as mentioned elsewhere, a very small balcony. Loved the sunbed booking system and the area around the pool was nice with plenty of room, unlike some other hotels nearby. Location was perfect with only a few steps to the beach. We stayed bed and breakfast as there are numerous good bars and restaurants a few metres away on the main strip.
Only negative was the extortionate price of bottled water in the hotel but there is a supermarket across the road.
Very good bakers/coffee shop next door and an ice cream van sits beside the hotel all day as well.

Dear guest,

Thank you for your stay and a good rating review.
It feels great to read that you found our hotel perfect, with a great staff and service.
There are plans to renovate some of the balconies this winter. If you are the person who spends time in the balcony, than the deluxe room, is the room that will satisfy your expectations.
As for the water, you don't need to curry it from the super market over the street. the price per bottle, is exactly the same in our mini market. If you refer to the price of the water in the restaurants or bars of our hotel, than sure, this is higher than the super market.
The Capo Bay team looks forward to welcome you back in the future , in good health and spirit.
