We stayed for 2 nights recently. The resort is located 15 km away from Cherapunjee. The location is very interesting. The road leading to the resort is really picturesque. The view from the resort is beautiful. The service is good. All staff members are very helpful. The property and the the rooms are ok. Try to stay in the Executive rooms. Try to reach the hotel before the sun sets.

Room Tip: Room 1,2,3 has the best view. Executive rooms are better with less noise.

We had booked a room in the resort for 14 Jun to facilitate a trip to the Double Decker living root bridges and Rainbow Falls the next day. The resort has a picturesque view and offers good food. Buffet dinner and breakfast is included in the price. There is an entertainment programme in the evening for an hour and the troupe sings English, Khasi and Hindi numbers and a traditional Khasi dance. The rooms are neat and clean and the owner Mr Dennis and his staff are very courteous and accommodating. We enjoyed our short stay and would definitely visit again.

Room Tip: The executive suites are larger and offer more privacy.

This place is 15kms away from main sohra town of cherrapunjee but easily accessible if you have a vehicle. Its beautifully located. Old but clean rooms. Dinner and breakfast included in package for rs 4,000 per night during season time. Best place if you plan trekking and root brigde. They guide you well and provide paid assistance which can be very useful. This is family run place very well managed and you get homely warmth as if you are their relative.

Tucked in the green hills of Cherrapunjee, this hotel provides their best service possible. Good food, comfortable rooms, excellent water supply in the bathrooms. Evening Campfire, inclusive breakfast and dinner and wonderful staffs make this resort an excellent place to stay at Cherrapunjee.

We stayed at the CHR for 2 nights and had booked 3 rooms. I had read book good and OK reviews about the property so had a mixed feeling before we went there, and here's a little narrative of our experience

The property is located about 30-40 minutes drive from the main cherrapunjee. There is a single road that leads to CHR ; Follow google maps it gives you a very accurate path all the way to the gate.

We happened to reach cherrapunjee at about 8pm so it was already pitch dark and were a little concerned about the road conditions, The single road though not extremely smooth is a very driveable one. Most importantly they owners of CHR have signboards every few hundred meters or so. That made us feel reassured that we were going in the right direction... it is a good idea considering people come from a long way and you dont want them worried and turn back. It was a very good driving experience (even though it was late in the night)

Now to the property. It has two blocks : The octogan shaped main block that houses restaurant, reception and i guess 6 standard rooms

A separate block that houses 4 rooms ( executive rooms) This block is just a stone's throw away from the main block. We had booked the executive rooms and they offered us more privacy than the rest of the rooms.

It is definitely not a 4/5 star property; but it is maintained very well. You can feel a sense of responsible tourism the owners are trying to promote in the region. So if you are one of those splurging tourist that is expecting to be pampered, this may not be a place for you, but if you are one of those who wants to explore the area be one of them and mingle with the environment. You arent going to get disappointed

Downside ; We did experience power outages a few times during the stay in the night, and i guess they did not have a backup power generator since we were out of power for an hour or so.

Location : Like i had already mentioned ; it is nicely perched on top of the cherrapunjee mountain, and from the other side you could see the plains of bangladesh. one of the days we were completely fogged out at the resort and had a lot of fun with the kids dancing around...

Activities : there are a lot of adventure activities listed out and CHR staff can help arrange them for you depending on how much time and effort you are willing to put in (also based on the season there can be some small changes)

Most importantly the starting point of the Nongriat double decker root bridge is a just a couple of kilometers away and they help arrange a guide for your trek

Food : The breakfast had a very decent spread and the dinner was served piping hot. their panneer was the softest we've had in the recent past and the dal makhani was amazing.
One small observation about the dinner was that if all the families that stay there come at the same time for dinner, it sort of gets a little tight, it would be best if they can help space it out

Service : We felt this was the best part of being at CHR, it is run by the family for the last 15-18 years or so, and they do whatever is within their limits to make you feel right at home. The service was very prompt through our stay

the price offered includes stay and two vegetarian meals (Breakfast and dinner) for two
