This hotel is in need of renovation and modernization. The rooms are very plain with minimal furniture, but clean. Wi-fi service was good and also the cable TV has a wide range of channels in various languages. I was surprised to find door locks with actual keys instead of electronic key cards. The hotel was ok for a short stay (1 or 2 nights), and for that it was a good value. The restaurant food quality was quite good as was the free continental breakfast. The property is quite a walk from the train station, but they do offer to pick you up at the station if requested. I walked (took about 15 minutes). Also the hotel is about a block (five minute walk) from the gondola lift station, to go up to Fiescheralp.

Not a welcoming hotel, though the rooms were clean. As we were in a group of 23 travellers we were put in a back room away from the atmosphere of the main restaurant and were served on 4 evenings by two very rude and uninterested male waiters/barmen. They almost threw the plates of food at us and were not pleasant or welcoming at all. Also the kitchen were asked to provide something else rather than pork to one guest, and she was presented with a plate of spaghetti and nothing else! The food was very poor though the breakfasts were okay.

Room Tip: The third floor for a better view.

This is a 1970s era hotel that has not been renovated since it was built. The owners are Russian, and the hotel caters to a Russian clientele. Cleanliness & housekeeping is not up to Swiss standards. Very few staff speak English.

The management has a habit of turning off the heating in the building at about 11PM and not turning it back on again until the morning.

There is a restaurant in the hotel, not open continuously, and not operated by the same people who operate the hotel. The restaurant has good food but poor service.

Read the translations of the German language reviews (for the most part, these are reviews by Swiss people) before you consider staying here. I was not impressed and will not return.

On the positive side, the Wi-Fi service is very fast, about 20 megs/second.

I was surprised by the hearty breakfast in such ordinary 3* hotel - the russian couple running this place at the foot of the glacier Aletsch arena offers even a warm corner + a great choice of classic morning breads, cheeses, juices, etc... They should work a bit harder on cleanliness: in my room there was some weird smell upon arrival + someones hair left in the bathroom.

Stayed here for two nights, hotel room was comfortable, had a good night sleep, we had a stunning view from our balcony. Breakfast and dinner was lovely. The hotel also has a sauna which was amazing after a cold rainy day. The hotel also within walking distance to the sky lift which takes you up to the top of the Eggishornn where you are able to see a glacier. Unfortunately the weather was too fogy so we couldn't see it. Staff friendly and speaks english.
