Visited Claremont Garden yesterday. Even though many plants are still in winter mode it was still a pleasant walk around the grounds and lake. Not too muddy if you stick to the paths... Lost of doves around the lake - but no ducks ! We wondered where they had all gone... Scared off by the two plastic red reindeer on an island in the lake perhaps ??!!!

Not really a place for serious walkers or intense heritage fans but this is a very pleasant place with a nice flat (wheelchair friendly)walk around the small lake and some other pieces of the old formal landscaped gardens to explore. Lots of birds on the lake to feed.
Best for the old and very young!
Very pleasant atmosphere all year round. Very good café. Good car parking but does get busy during peak times.
National Trust btw.

The gardens offer a pleasant walk and a basic circuit takes only about half an hour - great if you're an National Trust member (entry free) and simply want a breath of fresh air. If paying for your visit, you might want to look out for a day when the tower is open or other activities are taking place to make it worthwhile, otherwise its an expensive stroll! We've enjoyed a family picnic there in the summer, there's a small playground which kept the kids entertained for a while, as did the dressing-up box in the cottage. As others have mentioned, the car park fills up on sunny days and the service in the cafe always seems mystifyingly slow. Its a shame the cafe doesn't have views of the park but perhaps that would make it even more popular...

I have visited Claremont on 3 occasions now and I love it. Staff in both the reception and coffee shop are very friendly and helpful and the setting is lovely. Highly recommend for a relaxing walk. I have only been during the week in the daytime so can only recommend based on my experience at that time.
