We stayed for 1 night at Ricordeau on a cold winter's night. Before dinner we decided to take a walk around the village as we had been travelling all day. The owner (as he happened) said it would take all of 5 minutes to see the village, he was right. Nothing of interest really. However, when we entered the dining room we were greeted with a table for 2 in front of a wonder log fire. Very romantic. Being January there were just a few other diners. We opted for the famous chicken and were not disappointed. As we decided not to have a starter (saving ourselves for dessert) and being told we would have to wait a while for the chicken to be cooked as we were not having a starter they suddenly produced some 'amuse bouche' and an absolutely wonderful pumpkin soup in a 'tiny' cup. We both agreed we could have eaten a hugh bowl of pumpkin soup as it was so tasty! We had a lovely evening meal with great service! The rooms were comfy, a bit dated but for 1 night who cares. Would visit Ricordeau again as a stop over on the way south. Staff very polite and friendly.
