We stayed for 1 night at Ricordeau on a cold winter's night. Before dinner we decided to take a walk around the village as we had been travelling all day. The owner (as he happened) said it would take all of 5 minutes to see the village, he was right. Nothing of interest really. However, when we entered the dining room we were greeted with a table for 2 in front of a wonder log fire. Very romantic. Being January there were just a few other diners. We opted for the famous chicken and were not disappointed. As we decided not to have a starter (saving ourselves for dessert) and being told we would have to wait a while for the chicken to be cooked as we were not having a starter they suddenly produced some 'amuse bouche' and an absolutely wonderful pumpkin soup in a 'tiny' cup. We both agreed we could have eaten a hugh bowl of pumpkin soup as it was so tasty! We had a lovely evening meal with great service! The rooms were comfy, a bit dated but for 1 night who cares. Would visit Ricordeau again as a stop over on the way south. Staff very polite and friendly.

This place is wow, so much character your eyes fest on so much, from the inside to the outside. We arrived in a group 20 of us, the owner waiting at the door to greet us. Lovely dinning room all set out. The food was excellent and good wines too . Staff were excellent and very efficent. Would love to come back in the summer to stay and use the pool . Well done, keep up the good work.

A great hotel, very welcoming and comfortable rooms. The restaurant is a classic with excellent service and well cooked food using local produce. The chicken to be ordered at least 24 hours in advance should not be missed.
We have often stayed here en route to the South and it never disapoints

We have stayed here before and on the previous occasion were able to eat in the restaurant, which was really lovely. This time the restaurant was closed, and only the bistro was available. Poultry is the speciality of Loue and the menu featured plenty of it. Wouldn't choose the 'chicken burger' again, and although the duck was delicious, it needed some crisp green vegetable or salad to set it off (mange tout? haricot vert? surely not too much to ask). The third in our party went for a selection from the cold buffet, (you can have this for main course or starter), which was 'just what it says on the tin' - did the job, quite pleasant.
Staff very helpful, rooms very comfortable, quiet garden. I agree with a previous comments about the breakfast - should there really be an extra charge of 14.50 per person for a simple, self serve, continental breakfast?
Overall, we will probably return, whilst also trying alternatives.
