A well maintained historical temple complex, nice to see the lawn within the complex. Very hot during daytime, good to visit in the morning.

Candi Penataran (Penataran Temple) is the biggest Hindu Temple in East Java. The temple is great, clean and easy to find from Blitar, around 10 km.

Penataran Temple is one of ancient historical building for Hindus. It is located around 15 km to North of Blitar City. The temple cover about 10.000 sq m. The temple it well maintained, although not perfectly due to possible limited funds. Overall, if you love ancient history, it is worth to see.

The first time I came here was during school trip. the last time I came here to see Purnama Seruling Panataran, the attraction during the full moon last November. There are some Hindu temples here such as Naga (dragon) temple and Angka Tahun temple. and here you can see lots of reliefs about Ramayana, Sri Tanjung, and Cerita Panji.

The temple was actually old, but the Dinas Pariwisata (Tourism Department) is able to maintain it and to make it looks so lovely, tranquil, and make us feel comfort to be there.

Yesterday (August, 15th 2015) My boyfriend and I visited this temple and we feel that it was sooooo wonderful to meet such old temple rightly on a center of a park that drive us to take a lot of pictures to be shared to our fellows to visit the temple. Besides, there was a "mas-mas" from Tourism Department on parking area that is really nice to explain about the landmark. Really, you guys MUST visit this temple!

It just costs IDR 3000 for parking your motorbike and free entrance fee.
