❤️Currently staying Almirante - 1st Class historical/Heritage Hotel - authentic Spanish family owned. Agree with all the other reviews - the links to Lord Nelson & Colingwood & original letters on display etc is incredible.
Other highlights
-Swimming pool and lovely gardens
- location to explore island and walking distance to East Castella & Mahon fo
- views across bay, rooms, breakfast all perfect.
-Staff from cleaning/bar/reception super helpful.
-We love the pool table & beautiful games table upstairs.
- Spanish local cakes for sale & drinks at bar.

Thank you- not many hotels left like this in the world ❤️

A perfect escape from the hubbub of life a beautiful main house and bungalows around a pool. Simple but so well maintained. Don't expect a TV, fridge, or tea or kettle. The bar and kitchen have very strict times they open. But with a little Cafe and shop just over the road it is no hardship. Be ready to walk for meals out between 15-30 mins to next towns or village or local bus or taxi.
Staff are so friendly and welcoming. If you have a high pressure job and want to chill out then this is for you.

This is a charming hotel, with an interesting colonial history. Thank goodness hotels like this still exist. Not everyone is looking for jacuzzi hot tubs, rooftop spas and TVs. We enjoyed a laid back and relaxing break, enjoying the simplicity this hotel has to offer. It is conveniently yet quietly situated just off the main road between Mahon and Es Castell, both offer a good choice of harbour restaurants. So it’s a case of ‘ eeny meeny miny moe, choose which way to go’.

What a magnificent little gem of a hotel that delivers 5* service!! It's like staying in a colonial museum, full of artifacts, furniture and paintings from its past. We were informed that, prior to Covid, they would carry out a weekly tour of the hotel and really hope they get permission to start this again soon, as we'd have loved it.
We stayed in room 10, in the main house, which was large and comfortable, with everything we needed & the rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels provided.
The pool is perfect for the size of hotel and though I've seen some reviews suggesting that this hotel is not suitable for families, there were families staying whilst we were there, who seemed perfectly happy.
We were only staying as B&B and breakfast was brilliant, and as expected when you stay in Spain or Italy. The staff could not have been more attentive, continuously stocking up and ensuring they didn't run out of anything. There is a peaceful garden area, with tables and lights, offering shade in the day and beautiful space to enjoy a drink or two from the bar in the evenings.
The port of Mahon is a beautiful walk of just short of a mile away, with a huge choice of excellent, good value restaurants & bars along the waterside, as well as boutique style shops.
The bus station is a mile away in the centre of Mahon, which has buses travelling all over the island, at great value. Only 5 euros for a bus to Ciutadella, on the other side of the island and about an hours journey. However, to get to some of the nice beaches would mean trying to coordinate a couple of buses, so we will most likely hire a car, next time we come.
Many of the guests, we found, have been coming here for many years, which we can understand why.
If you want a nice quiet hotel, full of charm and history, with a nice pool and stunning views of the harbour and fantastic customer service, look no further!

Room tip: Probably best to hire a car if you want to explore the islands beaches, otherwise everything else is on your doorstep.

We stayed here in this charming place from 10th to 17th of July,
It was one of the quietest and friendly places we have had the pleasure of staying in,
The rooms although basic are very clean and tidy, the staff don’t seem to stop cleaning,
All of the staff are friendly, helpful and professional, first the bad points…well that’s that over with.. now the good points, far too many to mention, it is a lovely lovely place to stay, but nothing to do for children ( so take them elsewhere), a garage across the road sells most things you will need like cold beer when the bar is shut in the afternoon, from 3 pm to 5pm, the food in the hotel is great on the menu’s, breakfast consists of ham cheeses, cereals , fruit coffee tea, juices, very adequate, I ordered a couple of boiled eggs a couple of mornings there is a small charge for these, we met some wonderful people now friends, big hello to Michelle, Richard, and Cathy and John , Sam and Andrew, ( not the ones from Margate lol) thank you again to all the staff, we had a wonderful stay, hope to cross your threshold again next year..
