A four night break in one of the lodges with a friend and my dog. Apart from the fact that originally it was assumed I was coming with a partner - quickly corrected although the computer still insists on addressing me as Mr & Mrs - our twin bedded lodge was spacious, comfortable and warm. The staff were extremely helpful (we had a small plumbing issue that was sorted out immediately) and kind., nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. The option to get takeaways was welcome and my friend who is a vegetarian was pleased that the veggie options were as good as the meat based ones.
The area is stunningly beautiful and despite the somewhat tricky weather we had a lovely time both walking in the area and visiting Inveraray and Oban. What would be nice is some information in the lodges as there was no information about the area (walks would be particularly helpful) and no indication on how things worked - we managed to figure most of it for ourselves.
The hotel and lodes are quirky and pleasant, the water is really not an issue so long as you understand it's brown and altogether a lovely place for a realxing winter break.More
