We arrived at the bistro in Chateau de Berne today at 12:30 pm. Asked for a table for 4 adults and 2 children. The staff were instantly rude, told us there were full. The restaurant was at that time empty. We have full respect for all booked. Suddenly they said, there is a table here, If we pull in 2 chaird. This was because we got a little anoyed... 200 euros later, Excellent service and food, there was still 5 tables that were not used! 2x 6 persons and 2x 4 persons. This first impression is not wirthy of this amazing spot outside Lorgues ⭐️

Dear Customer,

We are really sorry to hear that our staff has not lived up to the welcome it is supposed to bring you. It is true that our restaurant "Le Bistrot" is very busy and is often full, but some of these reservations are not honored. We would be happy to welcome you next time, so you can see the improvements.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Best regards
Benjamin Collombat
Chef of the restaurants

Make no mistake this vineyard has a fantastic setting, with top ratings for several years. It has a Relais & Chateaux seal.

It’s very much open to the public for lunch dinner and wine for non residents - we have been going there for years with great delight. But sadly it’s now got too big and lost control of its Bistro where most visitors would frequent.

The new bistro manager is loud and rude, the food that was always of a very high standard and enjoyable, was thrown on the table, dry, uncooked and four of the six dining there, left their food.

We did complain about this being out of keeping with past visits only to see the staff unable to comment-but upset as the new manager was clearly not going to listen.

They made no effort to redress this poor standard of food and service, appalling!!

This is a huge disappointment and visitors beware.

We’re sure if the owners do get to read this report ? they will try and rectify the sad demise of a great place.

We stayed 2 nights (that was 2 nights to much)
To the good things the hotel is beautiful pool fantastic gym great tennis great internet very good views over the wine yard amazing . Pretty good bartender and the food at the breakfast is great.
The problems started upon arrival they claimed I had booked at classic room and were nice and upgraded med to a deluxe room, only problem was that I had made a booking for a deluxe room thank god I had a photo of the booking confirmation . Think it was 8 years ago since I booked a classic room...
So after 15 minutes of discussion I did get an upgrade as a club5C member I have right to it ..
After lunch my girlfriend had a massage it said 50 minutes in the welcome letter in the booking confirmation it said 45 minutes she received 30 minutes after I complained as a compensation they gave as some crap products from the spa where it said not for sale on them.......
Before we were going to dinner someone knocked on the door and gave us some water for the night when we asked for turn down service they didn’t know what that was , I asked for it the second night as well over phone and was transferred for reservations for restaurant.... don’t you have to have turn down service to be a 5 star hotel in France and the same with English speaking staff in reception around the clock?
Dinner was so and so but great wine list and great cheese..
Breakfast in the morning is great if you are lucky to find someone that can give you a table it took at least 10 minutes both days to find someone there ..
We should have a wine tasting the second day but were booked with non hotel guests we thought it should be a private one so we had to escape...
Another interesting thing in the Bistro a beer cost 3.50 euros same beer at the pool or restaurant over 10... I don’t mind paying for me however this makes the bistro a tourist attraction with a lot of hiking people..
But I must say the truffle Pizza at the Bistro was amazing ..
I feel sorry to say it but this is the worst hotel I have visited 2018 and it is a also among the two worst relais Château hotels I have ever visited and I have been on over 30....
What you can do is (to have a ok stay). book a room with a nice view ,walk down to Bistro grab a Pizza for take away eat and enjoy at the balcony , then go to bed ( very nice bed) go for breakfast eat (probably better just take a seat somewhere and skip to w8 for someone to give you a table .. enjoy the pool and leave before lunch ....

Lunch on the terrace was a delight! Excellent food, first-class service, gracious atmosphere. We ate trout and a wonderful rhubarb dessert. Courses were generously complemented with amuse bouches, home-made breads, palate cleansers and coffee was served gourmand with mini pastries. The hotel is set in vineyards supplying their signature rose wine. The whole property has recently been renovated, and seems to have everything one needs for a luxurious few days. Next time!

We stayed here and was really disappointed at the lack of staff and service around.
Check in was disappointed as the staff just seemed confused and wasn't quite the personalised welcome we had been promised via email.
There was no coffee offered at breakfast, when we finally got to order some by following a waiter into the kitchen, it was served cold and burnt 20 minutes later. The breakfast was very slow at being replenished and again, no staff to ask for certain things to be replaced. Having paid 29EU each for breakfast on top of our room price, this is not what we expected at all.
There was no staff to be seen at the bar, we again had to hunt the staff down.
The room was OK but for the price paid (500EU per night), we have stayed in much nicer and comfortable hotels/ rooms.
The bed was very uncomfortable (the mattress felt like it was old and hadn't been changed or flipped for a very long time). It was one of the worst nights sleep we had in a while. The bathroom was really small with no where to put your toiletries and with them constantly falling on the floor it got very annoying.
We also wrote 2 emails on our return from the property to mention the points above plus a few more but never received a reply. Really bad form Chateau de Berne, you are not a 5 star premises and it was a very disappointing stay.

Room Tip: Do not pay for an upgraded room. Not worth it
