A lovely area, particularly for someone in my business (wine). The staff is wonderful - everyone was charming, helpful, warm, friendly - all good. The restaurant is less ambitious than I'd hoped, but it was solid, and again, the staff was wonderful. A caveat:
Every bottle of wine I bought in the restaurant suffered from heat damage. Drinking the wines of producers with who I work was disappointing. In my stores in the U.S., the wine is in better shape, as we temp-control every bottle from the winery to our three stores. This is an issue in many restaurants in France, and it is a shame.
The restaurants should know better. In Italy my experiences with wine in restaurants has been generally good. The same can be said for Germany. But in France, with few exceptions, the wines are in terrible shape.More
