In my many travels around the Philippine islands, staying at Buddha Resort was like no other place. Here is why this place was like the honey to my cup of tea.

1. It was easy - The staff was very very open and friendly. Katy and her gang were accommodating to all your needs from airport transfers to daily tours, from meals to special requests, they are surely top notch and managed very well.

2. Where it is - perfectly nestled just past the increasingly touristy area of General Luna and close enough to surf lovers of Cloud nine(way too busy and washed out feel). It’s quiet chill and only 20p trycicle ride to anywhere. Did not need a moped. Steps away from Mamas Grill, the BBQ staple of grilled food lovers.

3. Comfortable - Although I did stay in a Superior room, all rooms were comfortable and very clean. WiFi good at the main area, and the place is serene with daily yoga. I’ve seen celebrities stay here because it is chill.

4. Come eat and lift the dining chairs - The food is very good and will leave you with a “Wow” feeling for a place that has something different to offer. Oh the chairs are made of Kamagong which is what I call steel brown wood. Lift one to feel how solid it is.

Buddha has the right idea, the right feel and the right vibe. They know what works to make your Siargao stay the sweetest wave you ever caught.

Additional info:
Other accommodation points you may ask :
• is it beach front? No, and although there are other beach front properties, the beaches on the shores of the area are not that great and not a good swim. Go on an island hop tour for the best beaches.
• Do they have a pool or hot tub? No. This may be a bonus but mostly Siargao is about surfing. A hot tub would be nice.
• Is it close to the beach or easy to get to surfing? Both are Yes. There is a small path to the beach and Buddha arranges the easiest way by boat to get you and your board on the surf, high tide.
• Any diving? It does not seem like its a popular activity as nobody talked of it or offered it as things to do. I think it’s limited to one good dive spot called Blue Cathedral and the rest as so so. Even the sanctuary snorkeling site was lacking of coral. There is fish but definitely better in other places.

This perfect place for a solo traveller, I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my travels. The manager Katy, was helpful and always on hand to assist with any queries I had, the staff made me feel totally at home. I became part of the Buddha crew at the end of the day, we all ended up surfing every morning together and socialising at night, Buddha was located in a perfect surf spot and nicely placed between Cloud 9 and the centre of town. It was also very easy to organise excursions, the surf instructors were world class and the post surf food sublime! Highly recommended!

Buddhas just feels good. The staff is incredibly helpful and accommodating. Katy, the manager is a kind soul who went out of her way time and time again. This carries over to her staff. From surf lessons, to tours, to where they buy a certain type of clothing, the staff will point you in the right direction.
Excellent location, great rooms, awesome food and drinks. Even the playlist is awesome. I could live here. :) Keep up the great work!
Highly recommend.

This resort is a reap off, service is really sucks! Our last dinner we asked how much is an order for an extra fries the guy says 50.00 pesos and when the bill came it’s 120.00 per order... what the f#%k!!! Then they committed to us the night before that they will prepare the breakfast before 7:00 am as our ride to the airport is at 7:00 am... we were told that the chef did not came in yet so there was no food... to think it’s part of the room charge. We are Filipino that’s why... they only treat the foreigners VIP!!! Descrimination to their own kind!!!

Thanks for your feedback Maria.

I apologise that our waiter informed you of the wrong price for your fries, 120php is in fact the correct price as stated on the menu.

Our policy for guests checking out early for breakfast is that we arrange one chef to start the shift extra early as the restaurant opens 7am. Unfortunately on this occassion the chef arrived 20 minutes late and so you had to have the breakfast as take-out and I apologise for any last minute stress.

We certainly don't discriminate against any guests and we endeavaour to give all guests the best possible service and experience.

We had the best four days/nights staying at Buddhas, Katy and the team were incredible at making us feel welcome and nothing was ever too much trouble. They sorted out a car for us to rent, an amazing island hopping tour, surf lessons, massages and even the rushed crazy bill paying at the end so we could get our airport transfers ended up being no bother. I can easily see how people could end up spending weeks (months) here - we certainly could have. Really hope Reef gets better - what an amazing dog! Thanks for a brilliant stay Katy and team. Will recommend to anyone coming for sure!
