I have just returned from a fantastic 2 days/3 nights at Llechwedd, staying in one of their new glamping tents. Beautifully kitted out, fabulously comfortable beds, good shower, delicious welcome pack and very friendly staff. Food in the cafe very good, as were the pizzas.

Took the deep mine tour, which was both fascinating and very humbling, and the outside zip wires which were incredible. The weather was glorious so also did plenty of walking - footpath up over the hill behind the glamping tents (though I hesitate to call them tents, they were so smart!), and popped in a trip to Portmeirion which isn't too far away by car.

100% recommend.

Thank Hilary M

we chose the lorry experience at Llechwedd, fortunately on a glorious summer day with incredible views across the surrounding mountainous countryside and as far as Snowdon and the Glyders. The driver was excellent, stopping to explain what we were seeing from time to time. We wound our way along precipitous dirt roads, visiting sites of old mines and quarries, their buildings and slag heaps a testimony to ages of extreme human effort to extract some of the world's best slate. You can easily spend the whole day (week?) at Llechwedd, we did not have time for more but can very strongly recommend the experience--food is good too and excellent shop.

I cannot recommend the deep mine tour highly enough! Our party (including a two year old child) were exceptionally well catered for and felt very safe at all times underground. As something of a claustrophobe I was worried I might find the mines frightening but all the chambers were sufficiently large that this wasn't an issue. Our tour guide, "Old Rich", was a delight to listen to and clearly lives and breathes the slate mining life. I can absolutely recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in history and a desire for adventure!

We booked after seeing the tour on TripAdvisor and were not disappointed! We went through several chambers, saw equipment originally used in the mines. The digital projections on to the slate walls were also well done. Very informative and interesting. Tour was just under an hour and a half, we both had light weight waterproofs on which we were grateful for as it’s very cold once you get down there. One suggestion would be a little more lighting or someone at the back of the tour with another helmet torch

We had time to kill before heading home after our zip world activity. Thank goodness we decided to take the mine tour!! So interesting and insightful. I came away with huge respect for the slate workers and am truly impressed by their achievements. The tour guide was great and it was his first tour. I think his name was Steve? He was amazing.
