Very friendly and attentive staff - no waiting for anything. We had the lamb and the Turbot, both done exquisitely well. The starters and desert were also very interesting and satisfying, as were the little surprises that were served. We highly recommend taking advantage of this wonderful little restaurant with evidently a great chef surround by a well-trained staff.

We had the 5 course dinner. The food was excellent....delicious soup, fried fresh foie gras, sorbet, risotto, lamb chops, ice cream in a chocolate cup. 180€ for 2, including wine and a beer.

If the food served at this restaurant was matched by the surroundings this would be the perfect French experience. The location, the staff, the setting - the whole ambience of this Chateau and hotel were wonderful. We chose the 62 Euro menu per person because the fine print (pointed out by the waiter) said that we all had to all share this menu.

Having chosen the Inspiration menu we felt was like an uninspired wedding menu - something that pretends to be high class but on a budget e.g already pre-prepared and garnish thrown on.

In summary the fare served left us uninspired however we cannot fault the service received.

Most everything is perfect at this the dining room at the Chateau de Monrecour hotel. The menu is well conceived and the wine list wonderful too. To top all this off the service is excellent as well. We wish now we'd eaten here more during our week stay in the Dordogne.

So many disappointments in one evening at this restaurant.. There are so many great restaurants in this area so do yourselves a favor and choose another.

First, the rude reaction from the waiter to our dietary requirements..

Second, someone probably decided we shouldn't get the appetiser and the Muse Bouche.. We even asked the waiter about why we didn't get it and he literally walked away.

Third, the dessert (pineapple and nuts) had a sorbet with some unclear spice in it that left quiet an aftertaste.

The rest of the food was ok.. But you can surely find better for the high price tag..
