Malibu Koh Samui Resort & Beach Club

The Malibu resort is well kept and most of the staff very gentle.Rooms are nice and very spacy. They always tidy and the daily cleaning works perfectly fine. The pool is perfect although the pool area is a little bit narrow. Overall the whole place and the service offered is really very good. It is a resort I definitely can recommend!

However, there are some flaws. We met all through a very strange behaviour by the staff - and they of course followed detailed instructions by the management. At arrival, we were showed to the room, the girl was very keen to tell us what everything was costing (if disapperaring or damaged = nicked by us of course), she even presented a price list for all items in the room. I have been travelling a lot in my life but really never met a hotel that put a price on the safe....Who would bring that home? When asking to borrow wine glasses in the restaurant, we of course got them directly, but was informed that they cost 250 THB a piece if broken.

You can see the price list that was presented to us in the photo file.

My wife, who is Asian, was every time she came back to the hotel met by the same rude question; "Do you live here?" She is used to that kind of treatment when travelling in Thailand, but it got rather tiresome when the same guard asks the same rude question every time she's passing him, could be 3-4 times the same day. But I guess he just followed instructions as all the other.

Furthermore and definitely worse is that the nabour hotel is letting out their drainage just at the beach. The seawater below the hotel is of such a bad quality that it is easy to chose the pool instead. Unfortunately this is not a unusual phenomenon on Chaweng beach, several of the hotels has the same habit. How shortsighted can one be? It will destroy the water quality and the tourists will easily chose a cleaner beach somewhere else!

Nevertheless, our marks for Malibu is high - They do their best to deliver good service and (most often) offering the fantastic Thail courtesy to their guests.

Room Tip: Chose ground floor, ho hustle with stairs.

The staff at both reception and the restaurant are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and a good size. Great location on the beach and in a good spot along the main road, with bars and hotels such as Ark Bar not far at all. Restaurant food is delicious.
Only negatives were the wifi doesn't reach far (pretty standard though) and the breakfast spread could be a little more elaborate, however I would definitely stay here again. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could.

I was skeptical when some reviews on TripAdvisor mentioned the condition was old. Let me set your expectation right. It was an old hotel newly renovated. Some old furnitures were repainted in white to give it a new life. So it wasn't they new new modern type of hotel.

I've done sufficient research in order for me to finalized on Malibu. And we loved it. We booked the deluxe terrace room and the size was huge. Actually the basic superior cottage was smallest of all but of comfortable enough size. We didn't use the living area in our deluxe terrace room at all. The basic superior cottage rooms are nearer to the pools and beach while the larger superior terrace with elevated sleeping area are concentrated on the middle section and some scattered nearer to the pool among the superior cottage. The largest room would be the Deluxe terrace are located nearer to the lobby for easy access to the street and also only category available on 2nd floor. So if stairs are an issue, request for ground floor rooms.

Aircond was cold and place was kept clean. No toothbrush provided in the bathroom. Pool area was lovely with lots of sun and steps from the beach. The beach was clean and quite too!

When the hotel have low occupancy, the variety of breakfast reduced. Once our breakfast has no meat at all! Only the bits of ham from the omelette. But if the occupancy rate is high, they will add meat and local food to the spread. We had happy our during sunset and the vibe amazing. Good music, beautiful view, amazing cocktails and pizzas. But the highlight of our trip was the service at the bar. The waitress was a rare breed of service that was genuinely friendly and chatty. Her name was cute too, "Oh-Oh".

In general, chaweng is super touristy and thus food are expensive. Recommend to eat at the shopping mall as the food are cheaper and better quality than the so call street food or food court by the street. Malibu located directly opposite the central festival mall will everything u need there including a supermarket. It's also surrounded by a lot of decent massage parlor. Avoid gg to local pharmacy as most items cost up to 4X the price as compare to supermarkets or Boots/ Watson.

We love Malibu and couldn't get enough of Oh-Oh. She made our stay so memorably sweet.

We stayed for 3 nights during our honeymoon in April. The staff is very friendly and the receptionist spoke English so well - we were really impressed. I loved the stylish, clean comfy rooms! The restaurant staff is friendly and helpful, nice breakfast. Such a lovely swimming pool with huge clean swimming towels. I will highly recommend Malibu! We had a wonderful time.

Clean and cozy houses , right between the beach and the crowdy city. The staff is very kind the beach is the cleanest and best infront of this resort. I didn't try the pool because I prefer the ocean, but it looked cool. There are many nice restaurants nearby.
