End of April, the facsimile of La Grotte Chauvet opened, a few km from Vallon-Pont d'Arc, with visit times very strictly to be respected: since a few years, visits to French exhibitions and sites are minuted...This is a sad evolution, especially in the country of Liberty.
We, this is two couples, thus had some time to spend for lunch and looked for something typical of the region. We were lucky, as our French friends did not know the spot.
The menu offers typical regional dishes (beware: the cuisine of the Ardèche has nothing to do with that of Lyon, is more rustic and simple, based on the few local products): stews, fresh sheep's cheese (don't miss it!), simple Ardéchois wines.
Service is very good with a staff who do not consider you as milk-cows, but are sincerely pleased by your visit.
Prices are not cheap, but reasonable considering the quality.
