Currently here, half way through a weeks break with Inghams. We have a two story family apartment with two beds on the ground floor and two singles on the upper floor (with a really useful stair gate if you have younger family members staying up there). Head height is restricted up there and my 10 year old has bumped her head a number of times (nothing major just something to bear in mind if you’re planning on sleeping teenagers up there).
Room was available at 2pm on day of arrival, however, check in time is officially 4pm and the man behind reception was incredibly rude in his explanation to another family when they were a little disappointed that they had a 2 hour wait ahead of them. Room cleaning is only completed on request, however, everytime I have asked, it has always been done! Rooms are dated and seriously need a refurb however certainly doesn’t impact your holiday. Do bring your own hairdryer as the ones provided by the hotel are terrible and, due to the cold weather, an absolute necessity. Heating cupboard for drying out damp clothes is absolutely brilliant!
Location is very good - I had slight concerns that we would feel a little out of the way (however the separate beds for my 12 & 10 year rather than a shared sofa bed, meant it would have been worth it) however I was wrong! The walk into town is literally 5 mins and absolutely no bother and really quite lovely. Sleds are plentiful for younger family members and I think they would probably chose to have the ‘walk’.
Now for the biggest down point of the hotel, food! We were on a half board package. Breakfast is not too bad. Hot options of sausage, bacon, beans, hash browns, porridge. Cold meats and cheeses, lots of breads, cereals. However dinner was pretty dire. The food was barely warm, not much choice and what was there tasted as if it had been sitting for way too long. We have eaten out every night since experiencing the first dinner, so just be aware you may want to budget for that if you come half board. Restaurants are plentiful in town, however still worth making a reservation.
