The Griffin Inn
Ranked #15 of 36 Restaurants in Saxmundham
Price range: US$8 - US$25
Description: The Griffin is a medieval Suffolk Inn with accommodation in the pretty village of Yoxford. The Guest House was originally a 14th century coaching inn, and offers a friendly atmosphere, real ale, and open fires. We are a small traditional inn with Six bedrooms. The bedrooms are comfortably furnished and have either a en suite bathroom or a private bathroom (just for your use). Our skilled team provide a wide choice of freshly cooked food using, where possible, locally sourced suppliers. As well as our seasonal menu we have a variety of daily specials.

we had a great time enjoying 3 lots of music, one of them being a friends band ' the Broadside Boys' for a charity event for the Brain Tumour Charity. Our first visit but Vicky the landlady greeted us like an old friend and made us feel so welcome. she told us a bit about the pub/restaurant/B&B over 600 years old. a beautiful building & we plan to go back & stay a couple of nights to have time to enjoy the idyllic village & surrounding area too. the bar was packed but service was quick from the very efficient friendly staff including the landlord & landlady Stewart & Vicky,Thank you, see you again soon,

Very, very friendly welcome. Restricted menu but looked interesting. Young landlady very keen to give a good service. We were the only customers in the restaurant. Hope they do well if enthusiasm is anything to go by.

The Griffin Inn is not just a Restaurant/Pub, it's also a lovely getaway. The owners have done a marvellous job of restoring this 600 + year old building without losing any of its character.

It's the little touches that really made a difference for me, like the DVD and Book Collections that, you're welcome to pick from and watch or read, or the extremely generous amounts of complimentary tea/coffee/hot chocolate and most delicious biscuits in your room.

When I stayed, they were hosting a charity afternoon in the pub with a number of live bands, raising money for Macmillan and a lot of members of the village had come down to join in and partake. The owners, a lovely couple (Vicky & Stewart) really took the time to get to know us, made sure everything was comfortable for us and also pointed us in the direction of local attractions which we took the time out to visit and each of these just made our weekend away truly special.

For breakfast I enjoyed a full English Breakfast and a Roast to make your mouth water for Lunch. The food was absolutely delicious (especially the creamy leeks) and the setting in which we sat was a real treat. A combination of modernised comfortable seating that didn't seem out of place in the 600 year old building but also key features that reminded you of the time this restaurant had seen, little windows -perfectly restored, beams overhead and solid wooden flooring.

My stay was one that was so lovely, I'm looking forward to returning in the summer time. If it's good enough for Alan Rickman (who was a frequent visitor), it's good enough for me!

Just home from our first Curry Club and feel so disappointed - that we haven't been before! A great selection of traditional Punjabi dishes all beautifully served and tasted amazing! We are already booked in for the next one. Highly recommend!!

A smile costs nothing. We were fortunate enough to be served by the new owner, who was absolutely lovely. Happy to spend time explaining things to us and nothing was too much trouble. We all enjoyed our food which we took off the specials board and the normal menu.
Food and drinks prices very reasonable. Will definitely be returning.
