My partner and I were there from 16th-20th December. We were captivated by the view on the speedboat from Male to Kani. It was just fantastic! Definitely a place for avid photographers to go.
We were welcomed by the Village Chief, JB, and his team of GOs upon arrival. He briefly filled us in on the activities and the locations of the restaurants. The GOs are multi-lingual, each of them well-versed in many languages, which impresses me as this ensures that guests will feel at ease. =)
Next, we were shown our Beach Villa. Whoa! What can I say, it was GREAT! It was clean, although it feels a little sandy but, hey, it's the beach! Towels are changed daily, and rooms tidied.
Food is available almost throughout the whole day, at the two restaurants. Breakfast 7am-10am, late breakfast from 10 am - 11am, snacks at beach bar, lunch from 12.15pm - 2pm, snacks from 3pm - 6pm, dinner from 7.15pm - 9pm. It requires great determination to stop snacking and feasting on the food. The buffet spread was impressive, from fruits and salads to Japanese food, Chinese food, Italian food, Indian food and sometimes french cuisine (by that, I meant Foie Gras!). I personally feel that it would be even better if fresh fruit juice was served at the bar, as I am not much of an alcoholic person. Anyway, to relieve ourselves of the guilt from feasting, we joined the snorkeling trips (twice a day), swam in the pool which is open 24 hours, kayaked, played beach volleyball, did yoga and body conditioning (with instructors).
I like that one can choose to have a fun-filled day complete with different activities throughout the day available at the resort, or just laze around on the beach and the pool, soaking up the sun. Of course, there are diving trips which are available at extra costs. I thought it would be even better if there is wakeboarding.
At 11am, there will be aqua-aerobics led by a GO, and at 11.45pm there will be water games. The water games included water polo, water volleyball etc. The GOs will participate in these games as well. The GOs are very friendly, greeting you with a Hello or a Good day whenever you walk pass them. They make me a more friendly person as well ( such that I feel like saying good morning to the people I passed by back in my country which will really make me look like a lunatic!)
Dinner is served at two different restaurants daily (except Mon when one is closed). Buffet style at Veli and Gourmet dinner at Kandu which requires reservation the day before.
There will be a performance put up by the GO team every night at 9.30pm. Great show, it's a must-watch! There's the dancing and boozing after that.
All in all, we had a great time, and we really appreciate JB and his GO team for their efforts in making our holiday a great one. We would like to thank Sagar, the GO and yoga instructor, for his kind guidance during our yoga lessons. Of course, the rest of the GO team also made our stay a memorable one. Thank you, JB and Team. We will definitely be back next year!
