Boka Bay tour out of Kotor, with pick up at Huma Hotel at Dodrota & then first to Our Lady of the Rocks chapel which is a "must do'" ... 25 minutes is ample time.
Then power down other arm of Boka Bay , next stop the Submarine pods which are interesting, then out to the Adriatic & past Mamula Fortress & its twin forts nearby.

The Blue Grotto is fun as we dropped into the water & swam around. You can't quite recall such lovely clear waters ... but it is fairly open sea so be aware of the swell.
Back on board we power off past Tivat & around into the reach of Boka Bay & are deposited back to Huma Hotel jetty ... the rest of the group then head to Kotor.
A good morning, fortunately fine sunny weather.
Igor the pilot, was not that informative, but over the motors of the speed boat little conversation is going to be heard. A basic facts sheet to hand out would be a good option.

We visited this cave as part of a tour from Herceg Novi. The cave were hyped as a unique and special experience. We didn't get that feeling. The cave was dark, but at the right angle the water was blue. But the water is blue many places. So for a trip from Herceg Novi this seemed for us a little bit of waste of time. Maybe we didn't have the best weather conditions or maybe the boat was rushing the experience, but for us this was a sight we easily could have missed. Always nice to be out on the sea though.

After hearing people at the airport rave over this cave I have to say I found it disappointing. It's not all that large with just one basic pool and no inner recesses. As it was a dull day the depths were not that blue but I could appreciate that it is probably spectacular with some sunshine dappling the water so I'm not knocking that. Fortunately there was only one other small private boat when we were there but I imagine it can get quite crowded. A word of warning! As Mary C has commented, health and safety is a joke. Despite the weather being quite rough and our small boat tossing about, we were not invited to wear life jackets which were securely jammed under the benches. I don't think there were enough for the 26 passengers anyway. A freak wave would have had us over in seconds. One young woman in our group couldn't swim and was in fear of her life! 5 passengers who had to sit on the forward deck rather than in the seats were drenched within minutes of us hitting the open sea. I'm not an H&S fanatic and if the weather had been calmer I would have no issues but as Mary says, it's a tragedy waiting to happen. If Montenegro wants to join the EU they need to clean up their act.

the Blue Grotto is undoubtedly beautiful and swi ming there a great experience. However this is in a rhird world country where health and safety are unheard of. boats crowd into the spcw ane swimmers swim between moving boats. A disaster waiting to happen in a fantsitic spot. We went with Pajo cruises and we has no commenrary just lound “ head-banging” music, all the way. Imust wanted to jumpoverboard to escape the noise. stiffi g jy ears with tissue and holding my hands over my ears did nothing to alleviatate the pain. Our tour guide couldnt cate less. he and passengers smoked on a diesel propelled boat!!! There were no safety instructions, kids without safetyrail or buoyancy aids. The “ Captain” was a kid aged about 18!!!! I will be really sad to hear there has been a t4agedy with these boats. Mary

It was an amazing tour! We went on a three hour private tour for 100 € from Herceg Novi. It was a smaller, older boat that took us there in slow speed so that we could enjoy the beautiful view. We booked through Montenegro Travel Service and booked a boat called Bounty with Roman as captain and guide.

This tip is highly recommended! The highlight of our stay in Montenegro!
