I was a guest at Riu Guanacaste in April. The hotel is great, very friendly honest workers who do everything they can to make your stay pleaser. I've traveled all over the world, & I must say the Costa Rican people are by far a very warm, nice people. Carlos, the GM makes sure everyone is happy. Edwardo the beverage/ rest. Manager goes far. beyond & works very hard. My room was 3029, best. Woke up every AM listening to the howler monkeys, & birds. The food at. ALL the restaurants was superb. I ate at all of them. I took an excursion to Pualo Verde. I used Mario, on the beach. I had a private driver, Carlos, who was excellent. He works for Issystours. I recommend them. You must wear flip or water shoes on the beach or at the pool area if your walking on the cement, or you'll burn your feet. It was very hot at the end of April , but not humid. On the downside, no small bottles of shampoo, conditioner or lotion. Riu could use new washcloths & towels. They're old & rough. Could use better white wine choices. Also, if you're looking to buy a few souvenirs like T shirts, costume jewelry, buy it on the beach from vendors. I took a trip over to Coco Beach, everything they had there was the same thing from the beach, but more expensive. I would surly return to this hotel again. Very safe.
