We stay here for dinner and overnight each year on or around our anniversary. The Rossmount never disappoints. This is an old century+ inn; rich in history. Some rooms are large and some are smaller in order to protect the architectural beauty and integrity. If you're looking for rocket fast internet or large TVs, maybe stay at a Super 8. But if you're looking for a romantic and/or peaceful stay, surrounded by old world beauty, this is the place. There were two deer grazing on the front lawns as dusk fell. The restaurant is simply among the finest in this end of Canada. Special thanks to Marcie for getting us our morning coffee ridiculously early. I can't sufficiently say how much we love the Rossmount.

We enjoyed our stay very much at this quaint country inn. It has clean, quiet rooms with attached bathroom, wifi (spotty) and satellite TV. The wifi was a bit spotty. Even though rebuilt in the sixties, the inn has that turn-of-the century British ambiance, resembling Government House in Regina, Saskatchewan. We got the exclusive room package which included not only the generous breakfast but also the eight course mystery tasting evening meal. We were wondering what to expect, but we ordered a Pinot Grigio from the extensive wine list in hopes of getting seafood. We were not disappointed. As shown in the attached pictures, we started with fresh oysters on the half shell, scallops, fillet of sole with tempura vegetable, granita palate cleanser, pork belly with sweet potato, then switched to a Merlot for the filet of steak with vegetables and Béarnaise sauce, and finished with a sticky toffee pudding with brandy sauce. The meal took over an hour to serve by the the efficient Paula and assistants. We spent the morning walking around the village St. Andrews-by-the-Sea checking out the after Christmas sales. It was a very pleasant two day excursion.

You either love it or hate it judging by reviews. we stayed 2 nights and failed to eat in the restaurant on both nights - function on one night and we were offered 5.30 for an evening meal and 9 the other - too early or too late. Bitterly disappointed after all the food reviews. Whilst I accept web site says book in advance, I do believe this hotel is more interested in a local service than for guests staying in what is not a cheap hotel.
Room small, no tea or coffee, no fridge and not easy to take luggage to rooms with copious stairs.
WiFi unreliable and if you do not eat in the hotel you have to go to St Andrews, some 6k away so having a drink is an issue.
I also think the owners are not too bothered about poor reviews!

We arrived a bit later than planned after a round of golf I'm Maine and then discovered we had changed time zones which made it even another hour later. Upon check in, we were asked if we intended to dine in the restaurant and made a quick decision to dine there. We quickly went to our room to clean upend came back down a few minutes later for dinner and were we glad we did. We both ordered the fish, one order of cod and one of haddock, and ate half and then we switched plates so I can attest both were delicious. In addition to the food, the service was outstanding and made for an exceptional stay.

Two couples - booked the two night getaway and were very satisfied. The highlight of our trip was our dinner at the restaurant. We each ordered a different entrée and they were all exceptional. Even though the restaurant was full that evening, the waitstaff were attentive and service never lagged. Overall - the entire staff at the hotel were informative, helpful and amiable.
