I am having a hard time writing this and it has taken this long to be able to put my gratitude into words. I want to express how great the staff at Roca Sunzal treated me and my son. My husband, 73, suffered a stroke while surfing and was rescued by the lifeguards and concerned locals, transferred to the public hospital in Santa Tecla (not recommended for foreigners), and succumbed the following day. If not for the hotels wrist band, who knows how long it would have taken to find me... The bright side of this terrible incident was the staff, who were there for me and my son who flew down to help. Wilfredo, Arely, Carlos, Marcos and more were so generous and kind. Wilfredo was fantastic as he speaks perfect English and took us to the city multiple times as a driver and translator. He was so great, and we even were blessed to meet his wife and kids. The front desk staff Arely and Marcos were always there to help and attempt to brighten our day and stay. We had a chance to meet the owner, and he explained that this hasn't happened in El Tunco in the last 20 years he's been operating his many establishments there, and that they we so sorry and have learned a lot of lessons if it happens to anyone again.
