Went with parents and Family for 6 nights to goa, 3 nights in Leela.
Had been to this hotel 15years ago during my honeymoon, so always have fond memories.
The hotel did not disappoint, the pool is cool my daughter 11 year old enjoyed the food as always you end up eating much more than you should.
You can watch DVD in your room, go to the beach, and don't miss the pool

Leela goa can be rated as one of the best hotels in Goa and India, the location is superb with great beach near by, has very friendly staff for anything we require, the typical leela hoaspitality i would say, the rooms are spacious and the casino also is quite well equiped.
The rates in restaurants seems to be on the little higher side.

Very good property, away from noisy city life,
The best part of this hotel is sea breach at walking distance.
I like every thing in the hotel but the only thingh they may have to improve is the staff atitude.

I would have expected the Leela to be a bit more trendy, neater, newer etc. However, the experience was something that left us wanting.

I would like someone who claims to be a 7 star hotel, to have individual cars or mini vans to ferry passengers from the hotel to the airport and back! Rather than that old 34 seater bus. Nonetheless, they did have cold towels and water bottles for all of us and the journey was comfortable.

The hotel was under renovation. Only 60 odd rooms were available while the rest were all gutted out. The noise level was minimal, but since most rooms were overlooking the lagoon including the ones with workers in them, it was kind of unsettling to look out at the lagoon with a potential threat of a worker peeking into your room!

The staff at Leela was disappointing from two perspectives. When you are there for 3 to 4 days, you do not want to repeat your preferences on food and other things like AC or non AC at every meal. You also want to be able to strike a rapport with the staff so that you can expect a more homely service. It is legitimate to ask for my room number once, but twice in 3 days when I walk down for breakfast is something I am not too happy to do. Given that hotel had only 60 rooms running.

The staff hence was quite impersonal except for two exceptionally brilliant sous chefs are the egg station and the dosa station, who smiled and pleased everyone who came along.

The rooms that we got were on the first level with an attached balcony. The rooms were newly renovated in an otherwise older dilapidated hotel. The entire hotel needs to get refurbished.

The restaurants were good, the food is tasty but the buffet was repeating itself and the desserts were a re-hashed cousin from the night before. We had luckily not taken the buffet and hence we were ordering fresh each time.

The pool is large and inviting and probably the saving grace for the hotel at this stage.

The gym room does not provide headphones and the equipment is old, especially the mechanised treadmills and EFX machines. I was surprised that they had TVs to see but the only way you could hear them was to turn them up at the risk of disturbing the others!

Overall, I expected a lot more. Had it not been for the food being better than Park Hyatt, I would have not come to Leela at all. Park Hyatt trumps Leela in all aspects!

5 nights of pure luxury and pampering at Leela Goa. Our second visit in 3 years.
We stayed in the club suite with a plunge pool/outdoor shower with a personal butler who organised everything we required.
Room was clean, massive with comfortable bedding and sofa areas.
A la carte breakfast, lunchtime canapes and afternoon high tea (with local wines/beers) included for club guests.
All well executed. The beach side restaurant is a favourite. We dined twice there (Susagado). You can choose your own locally caught fish and ask the chef to prepare it the way you want (eg tandoor/curry etc).
The hotel is currently undergoing a mass rennovation (due to complete Oct/Nov 2011). We were not disturbed by this at the club (which has its own private pool for club guests) - The main pool area did have construction going on around it but we chose not to use it.
The grounds are exceptionally well maintained with some very interesting orchids/plants and trees in their nurseries. Worth spending a few hours exploring.
Just next door to the hotel is the less expensive fishermans wharf restaurant which also provides some decent quality meals and locally caught fish.
The beach shacks that provide snacks and bar food had all been dismantled for the monsoon season. Just up the beach from Leela is the Holiday Inn which you can also grab a light lunch if you're out for a stroll.
Evening dinner at Martins Corner is a must. (the hotel can organise a driver) So so service but stick to the fish and you cant go wrong with the flavours. A popular hang out. The cheese nan a firm favourite.
We used the Spa at the hotel almost daily. Staff tended to be a bit shy and reserved so you would have to ask for heavier pressure if you needed it. We flew to Delhi and stayed at the new Leela Palace New Delhi and the spa treatments there we found to be better (and more pricier of course!). Report of that hotel to follow separately.
The beach was practically deserted. We did find that there are many stray dogs that sleep on the beach so would encourage the hotel to clean their section of the beach to keep things hygenic and safe for walkers and swimmers.
Staff were very polite and helpful. Things did get a bit mixed up with some spa reservations so possibly some improvement in communications internally wouldnt go amiss. But not a big deal.
WIFI was also complimentary but it would log itself out within a few mins of non-use so you would have to keep logging back on.
there was also meant to be live indian music in their main lobby bar which we waited for but then when the musicians finally turned up from the dining restaurant they said they were finished for the night.
The main point was to come away rejuvinated, spoiled and relaxed. Mission accomplished.
A few tips that the new Leela Palace in Delhi can learn from.
Will for sure return again.

Room Tip: Indulge in the club rooms.
