Visited here on the last night of our stay at the nearby Turiscampo campsite (Friday 12th August). After reading reviews on Tripadvisor I knew we had to give it a go. We walked from the campsite which didn't take long probably about 10 minutes however beware the road doesn't really have a pavement and the traffic can be a bit mad. From the front the restaurant is small and and not easy to find so check for signs. We were greeted by a very friendly Scottish lady (Fiona I think her name was) who checked if they had a table available, which they did. The menu was varied and I noticed they had a different deal on each of the 6 days they were open which were all good deals. We ordered drinks and shortly after ordered our food; 1 south African bbq, 1 bbq ribs and a child's beef burger and chips. I love seafood particularly prawns but thought I couldn't not try the steak after reading the reviews. I ordered a glass of the house wine which was gorgeous so ended up having 3 (could've easily drank a bottle). We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and didn't mind waiting for the mains to be cooked. When they arrived the portion sizes we're really good and a nice touch that mine was served with coleslaw (very tasty). The South African bbq consisted of steak, lamb chop and sausage. The sausage was unusual but nice, the lamb tasty but the steak was to die for - delicious! Best steak I've tasted in a long time so flavoursome. My husbands ribs were a generous portion with lots of meat on and very tasty bbq sauce. Our son woofed down his burger so fast as he was very hungry. This was noted by Leo (the owner and chef) who came out of the kitchen to see how our food was. He asked our son if he was still hungry so when he replied yes he went back into the kitchen and cooked him some chicken goujons. These were equally delicious and woofed down by our son. We all felt quite full but were persuaded to try a desert. Now as someone who 'doesn't do desserts' wow! The sticky toffee style pudding was gorgeous! We left feeling very full and content after having a very enjoyable meal. Great food, friendly service just wished we'd discovered this place earlier in our holiday. If you're staying at Turiscampo trust me you can't afford not to go!

We have eaten here on a regular basis and by now have tried most things on the menu. All the food is freshly cooked, excellent value for money and some of the best flavours ever tasted, you will go a long way to find better. The daily specials menu offers very good value for money with no reduction in quality or quantity!!
The atmosphere and service are also excellent. Thank you Leo.

I must qualify this review by saying that my visit was a year back. Hopefully the place has changed, but I think not.

I and my other half went there one evening when the place was 2/3 full and I ordered a fillet steak cooked rare. I received a steak cooked medium to well done which I asked to be changed. The owner was very reluctant but when I pointed out the absence of any trace of "pink" amongst the grey he agreed.

He returned with a steak cooked blue. I don't mind a blue steak so allowed him to make his childlike point and ate it.

However, when he presented the bill he said "Next time you want rare steak ask for it blue". It was one of those flabbergasted moments when you are speechless due to the extreme impertinence of the person in front of you. Like most of us I thought of lots of retorts later, but this review will have to do. Not sure why I didn't do it at the time.

Avoid this place like a boil on the backside. The Pappagaio up the road will provide a far better meal.
