Selecting the Teesdale Hotel, was the best option for the next stage of the Pennine Way.
The hotel is located on the Main Street, and has great character.
Rooms are basic but very clean, offering ensuite, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer, and shampoo in the bath room.
The hotel has a large dining area and a bar area, which you can also dine in.
The staff were extremely pleasant and service was excellent, the owner of the hotel even arrange for the chef to stay on late as we were running a little behind schedule.
There is a good selection of meals on the menu, the homemade steak and ale pie is fantastic.
Full breakfast is available in the morning in the main dining room, cereals and fruit juice are on the main table.
It is recommended that you book a table as the restaurant gets very busy.
Good place, great staff fantastic meal and real ale, and a big thank you to the chef for stopping late on the Saturday evening.

Had a nice Sunday lunch but was made to feel very unwelcome by the lady behind the bar. When we asked to split the bill 4 ways for a table of 11 she was openly complaining to her colleague behind the bar about it. She then took each card transaction without saying a word. Sorry for the inconvenience of our custom, there’s 11 people who won’t be coming back.

My husband and I ended up stranded trying to get home from Barnard Castle as the A66 was closed. It was 8.30pm when we arrived. The gentleman was very welcoming and although food had just stopped being served he spoke to the kitchen and they said no problem. We had a delicious homemade steak pie homemade chips and mushy peas each, sat in a really friendly bar. In the morning we had a delicious breakfast and given some great advice on how to get home as the A66 was still shut. Thanks for accommodating us and looking after us so well !

Just had a one night stay in the Teasdale hotel and had a wonderful stay. I bought my hubby a groupon voucher for a birthday gift so we both benefited from the break. The offer was for dinner bed and breakfast and was definetly worth every penny. It's quite an old hotel and we did pay extra for a superior room which was situated on the first floor overlooking the front, which had a really comfy bed and very clean. I am used to really modern rooms but you know what it was old but had a lovely warm feeling to it . We had a 3 course meal on the evening and the food is of very good quality and presentation exceptional. We stayed in the hotel bar throughout the night but ate in the restaraunt. Breakfast the next morning was really good we both had a full English and it's one of the best I have tasted. This break was so good value for money I don't know how they can survive. We will definetly revisit this establishment even if it's only for the food as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thankyou to you all for making our stay so nice.
