Great quiet ,old style Hotel in heart of Classic, old hilltop own with large rooms, great staff, and amazing views from public balconies . Breakfast was fine , but food quality of set evening meal was variable at best , often poor quality, served cold, and dreadful slow service . Vegetables not normally included in set men .
Waiting staff were really helpful, but overwhelmed with 54 cover , including a La carte clients one evening - it took 2 hr 35 mins to serve us 3 courses off no choice , included menu.- - just not good enough . Expensive A La Carte Menu, with again several poor quality dishes

Building is split across yard, and access is difficult for luggage to rooms above restaurant , very difficult for disabled clients - bit of an obstacle course- bonus of 4 parking spaces for hotel , but nearly always full.

Suggest they either charge more for Half Board and improve food, or only offer B & B , like other local hotels ,as there are 2 restaurants in Bettona that can cope with extra customers. Myself and my wife , and a friend also all had upset stomachs during our stay. Spoilt our visit .

Shame , as other wise ideal l spot for a relaxing break, but would not consider half board again.

What a shame …. the Relais La Corte di Bettona, a premier class hotel in a beautiful location with prices to match; but its’ reputation destroyed by abysmal food accentuated by poor service in the restaurant.

It should be noted that all guests spoken with, including our own party of 6, unanimously agreed with the above comments.

We read the Trip Advisor reviews and should have paid attention.

Let me start with Sophia who works on the reception, an absolute gem of a lady and a fountain of knowledge for everything local who made suggestions for our daily trips.
The hotel is perfectly positioned for visiting the towns and villages of Umbria. We had the use of a hire car for our 7 day stay which we thought was a necessity, always found a parking place either outside the hotel or in the square where the hotel is situated. Driving in Umbria is very easy and parking is too.
The food at the hotel is very good with something for all, breakfast was very good but ask the waitress to make you a coffee. Would love to visit again and we would choose this hotel with no hesitation.

Hotel on the hills with beautiful view over Umbria. Bettona is a small village on top of the hills. Nice and quiet welcome. Beautiful room with old wooden ceiling and lovely view. Spaced bathroom. Food was delicious in the evening, Pasta with truffle and sliced vegetables tast very good. Good white wine. Delicious deserts with cream and fruit. We like to come back.

We have just returned from a fantastic week's holiday exploring Umbria. We flew into Bologna airport and the drive to Relais la Corte di Bettona was approximately 2.5 hours. The 33 roomed hotel is nestled on the top of a hill (like most villages in Umbria) so a car is a necessity. There is an outside roof top pool, gym and sauna should you wish to make use of these facilities. All areas are spotlessly clean and you are guaranteed a good night's sleep as beds are large and comfy and the area is very quiet. We were on a half board package which included a wide range of fruit, yoghurts, home baked cakes and pastries, cereals, eggs and bacon etc for the breakfast offering. The evening meal comprised a six course menu with each course having three choices - each guest could pick three plates e.g. starter, main and sweet or starter, main and side or starter, pasta and main etc. Additional plates could be selected for a small charge. If guests wanted to dine off the a la carte then a 50% discount would apply to those dishes. Local Umbrian wine was EUR 13 per bottle and the wine list was quite extensive. Tea/coffee making facilities were available in reception. Spectacular views over the rustic Umbrian countryside, helpful staff (most fluent in english) with nothing being too much trouble, great food, plenty of parking, what more could you want? All we want is to return very soon .... !
