The island was empty, which was great, because we had everything to ourselves. However, to get there is a pain - as transfer times from Male are very long (we had 5hrs waiting time). Most of the staff is lovely, however, with some I had the feeling they didnt quite understand what I meant. The food was pretty horrible - juices offered for breakfast were concentrate with a lot of sugar and water - literally undrinkable. Bad instant coffee. Bread was not fresh. For dinner the Asian part of the buffet was ok but the European pretty bad. The biggest disappointment was that you cant swim in the ocean - as the water is full of alges and the bottom is rocky. There is no house reef - and the reef further away is completely bleached, but I guess this is not just this resort. There is a nice pool to swim in though. It is also fantastic for Manta diving. All in all we had a very relaxing time because the island was so empty - but I guess there are a couple of reasons for that ;)

Best diving ever. Forget the luxus villas, the great food and drinks on this paradise on earth. The biggest reason to visit the place is their diving center! The diving center is managed by a dive instructor called "Flo" . Me and my daughter took nitrox and anvanced open water on our vacation. There are different instructors but we would recommend "Flo" who was outstanding!!!! We also had a dive with a instructor called "Ibba" and he was also a great guy with excellent skills. If you want to dive with the best instructors in the maldives this is the place to visit. We are for sure coming back!!

When I was there beautiful place, food was excellent, staff helpful and very friendly. A place you can totally relax. Down side lots of traveling 21 hours but did a certificate for travelling over the equator. But it was a bumpy ride from van airport.

Room Tip: Pick the room with hot tub you won't be dissatisfying

After a grueling 22 hour journey from LGW, the 15 minute speedboat arrival across a large lagoon did not disappoint. The resort is on the Southern half of the most Southerly Maldives and is basically nestled in a thin strip of sand and vegetation nearly three miles long and mainly just 50 yds wide. The resort is very spread out along this strip. All villas are the same and found in groups of eight to ten unobtrusively set within shoreline vegetation. A track meanders from one end of the resort to another.

Each villa is large and well appointed. They have a small but adequate semi-secluded ‘garden’ immediately in front with all Sunset villas having their own ‘secret’ path to the sandy beach. Sunrise villas do not as their outlook is (East) onto the rocky and shallow shelf facing the Indian Ocean. Sunset villas have the benefit of the atoll’s inner lagoon where you can swim.

Food in the dining room was varied and very good - no complaints at all. The two a la carte restaurants did not appear to be operating so we were stuck with the huge main dining room. The whole resort seemed generally deserted despite being just over half full. In one area away from the centre areas dining rooms and pool had been abandoned probably because of the lack of occupancy.

Everything is extra and all is changed to ones room – a good idea and works well. You do get two free bottles of water in your villa a day but all drinks cost including water. Can of beer is $7 and glass of wine $8, bottle $55. Bike hire is $4 per day but you can’t really go anywhere - although as villas are so spread out, it can take 20 minutes to walk to the restaurant and central bar, most hired bikes for that. A free shuttle service via golf cart buggies is available all the time. The adjacent town appeared deserted and there is nothing to see there anyway – the only two things on the island.

All staff were very friendly indeed and made one feel very welcome.

Our disappointments were few. The local coral close to the beach appeared dead with few fish – apparently due to the tsunami. The swimming was shallow although acceptable at high tide. Our highlight was the dolphin trip where we saw a hundred or more and it was that ‘tropical island’ just South of the equator.

Room Tip: Choose the Sunset Villas. NB. The Jacuzzi villas are a very long way away from the restaurant.
