Spent a week at this resort and had a fabulous time. Had a sunset beach villa and the room was great and right on the beach front with fantastic views. The staff were magnificent and could not have done enough for us during our stay. I celebrated my 50th birthday whilst here and had a wonderful candlelit dinner on the beach with my wife. The staff made me a lovely cake and also decorated the bed with happy birthday messages. It was such a surprise. The waiters in the Dhoni bar were very friendly especially Hassan who was a very nice young man who made us feel very welcome. The climate together with the exotic plants and wildlife confirmed that we were in paradise here. One of the most amazing things we saw were the Maldivian fruit bats which flew over the palm trees each day. They were quite a sight and have never seen anything quite like it. We would highly recommend this resort to any discerning traveller who wants a mixture of luxury and a lasting holiday experience.

We stayed 15 nights at the Canareef Resort in one of its Sunset Villas and overall we had an incredibly great time.

For the staff: Whoever we have met - be it the waiters in the restaurants, be it the people at the reception, be it the people that do all the cleaning - everyone in the resort was super friendly and supportive!

The room was always clean - they do housekeeping twice a day - and whenever you need something or have any issue, the team responds immediately and takes care of it.

As mentioned above, the staff in the restaurant is very nice. The food is quite all right. They serve a lot of meat such as lamb, beef, chicken and even pork. I’m not sure if this is what people expect from the Maldivian cuisine. However, everything was fresh and all dishes are nice prepared. I think with just some little amendments of the menu, it will become a very nice in the future.

All drinks and small snacks (restaurant and mini bar) are quite expensive. A small beer or 0,1 l wine costs around 8 dollars, coke or sparkling water around 3,50.

There is one thing we especially need to highlight: Doing scuba diving with the Sub Oceanic Diving Club was an absolutely outstanding experience! From A to Z, everything was perfect: Starting from the very warm personal welcome by Florian, who is heading the Scuba Club, until the last say goodbye. We always had the feeling that they tried to get the best out for us as a customer - be it by choosing the right diving spots, be it by appropriately preparing the boat and equipment, be it by sharing useful tips and tricks, be it the nice conversations we had in between. Being safe and secure during diving was always number one priority. There was lots of space on the boat, usually there were only three to seven divers - so relaxing! So all in all: An outstanding diving experience!!!

The island was empty, which was great, because we had everything to ourselves. However, to get there is a pain - as transfer times from Male are very long (we had 5hrs waiting time). Most of the staff is lovely, however, with some I had the feeling they didnt quite understand what I meant. The food was pretty horrible - juices offered for breakfast were concentrate with a lot of sugar and water - literally undrinkable. Bad instant coffee. Bread was not fresh. For dinner the Asian part of the buffet was ok but the European pretty bad. The biggest disappointment was that you cant swim in the ocean - as the water is full of alges and the bottom is rocky. There is no house reef - and the reef further away is completely bleached, but I guess this is not just this resort. There is a nice pool to swim in though. It is also fantastic for Manta diving. All in all we had a very relaxing time because the island was so empty - but I guess there are a couple of reasons for that ;)

Best diving ever. Forget the luxus villas, the great food and drinks on this paradise on earth. The biggest reason to visit the place is their diving center! The diving center is managed by a dive instructor called "Flo" . Me and my daughter took nitrox and anvanced open water on our vacation. There are different instructors but we would recommend "Flo" who was outstanding!!!! We also had a dive with a instructor called "Ibba" and he was also a great guy with excellent skills. If you want to dive with the best instructors in the maldives this is the place to visit. We are for sure coming back!!
