We needed somewhere to stay within reach of Blenheim Palace in Woodstock. Did not fancy Woodstock hotel prices and the facy that there is NOWHERE to park there anyway. So Charlbury which is about 7 miles away seemed ideal.
It is a quiet Cotswold village, but has at least 4 pubs and a Co-op.
The Bell is what you would expect. A basic country pub with rooms to the rear in a purpose built stone block. Our room (15) was clean and tidy, but I have to agree with others that the hot water was a bit hit and miss, but eventually it arrived at the shower head. We did not have an evening meal there, but the English breakfast was fine with local sausages which were the best I have had in a long time. All in all the hotel served it's purpose well and is located in a lovely area.More
