The hotel and architecture looks really interesting on photos and from a distance. But close up... Oh my!
1. Cleanliness of rooms:
-Mouse or lizard droppings all over the bathroom.
-A pile of toothbrushes left by previous tenants.
-Generally dusty and it appears to not have been cleaned in a good while.
2. Room standard and comfort:
-The hardest bed I have ever slept in, forget sleeping on the side.
-No shampoo.
-No mirror in the all-in-one shower toilet.
-WiFi not working on higher floors.
-Very small room.
-Miniscule TV set (old style vacuum tube).
-No fridge.
-Could really do with a general facelift.
3. Breakfast:
-Only rice porridge! No toast, no eggs or yoghurt or any western style food.
-No toaster (I asked if I could bring my own bread).
-Breakfast area covered in flies from the ponds (which should be cleaned).
4. Price:
-rooms are among the most expensive on the island, about 50% higher than the average. I paid 1500 Bt for a night. The higher price and the funky pictures were my reasons for booking in the first place. In this case, higher price does not come with better quality.
By all means, go and visit the interesting building, especially at night time when it is lit up well. But staying there? Avoid it!!
It's a real shame because most of these issues are easily fixed if the management would make an effort. If the rooms...The hotel and architecture looks really interesting on photos and from a distance. But close up... Oh my!

It's a real shame because most of these issues are easily fixed if the management would make an effort. If the rooms were just properly cleaned and they replaced the stone hard mattresses, put in a small fridge, mirrors in the toilets, shampoo… small things… and if they really did serve something decent for breakfast, I would consider coming back. I don't mind paying a bit extra for the interesting architecture, but then the rest really has to meet some kind of minimum standard.More
