Review of Drifters Restaurant and Pub - CLOSED

Drifters Restaurant and Pub
Restaurant details

Drifters used to have hearty food at a fair price. Only place to eat in Meadow Creek.
Unfortunately it closed around labor day. No one knows if it will reopen in the Spring
or Summer of 2017. Hopefully yes, the area needs a good place to gather and eat.

What do I mean about the title of this review.

This place used to be fantastic years ago and I think it
still gets it's reputation from previous owners success.

We stopped in a couple weeks ago for lunch and desert

What a disappointment.

One thing they were known far and wide for was their home made pies......

Very very bland and none tasteful.

Same for both the lunches we had.,.. we should have just gone back to Kaslo and hit some of the fantastic restaurants there.

We were there on a Sunday and it was the farmers market that attracted us there.

I'm sure the only people that were there was because of the farmers market.
Otherwise empty.

They are only open now Thursday thru Sunday ... that should tell you something.

And restaurant is now for sale.

Enough said.

The only positive experience about this whole thing, the drive was very scenic.

We make a point of visiting Drifter's Bar S in Meadow Creek, BC, at least two or three times a year. It is a great destination at the end of a scenic drive along Kootenay Lake. The food is good 'home cooking' type with gourmet flare. Never ever been disappointed in the food or the price. The chips (French fries for our American cousins) are too die for. Great chicken Ceasar wrap, burgers, beef dips, salads, all great fresh, well prepared and presented food. Service is excellent. Can't say enough nice things about this little place.

The employees are very friendly as soon as you walk in the door! They have entertainment some weekend nights as well. The food is also very tasty.

BC-31 heads north from Kaslo and is well-paved as far as Meadow Creek before it becomes unpaved for about 40 miles. Our motorcycle group wanted to to this side trip up to Drifters for lunch and it was fun. Don't count on your GPS, just stay on the main road until you come to Drifters.
This is really off the beaten path, but they appear to get enough traffic to have a decent menu, good food, and friendly service.
It was a collection of bikers, farmers, and locals.
WHY THERE? Hey, the road up from Kaslo and back is scenic, interesting, and a fun ride.
