I stayed for only one night but would have loved to stay longer. The room was very nice and large incl a wood burner and a 4 poster bed. The spa is quite generous and worth going to. The staff was friendly, the breakfast delicious and offered a good choice.
Only 4 out of 5 as whilst the room was nice the bathroom felt dated and the restaurant was closed on Sunday night. But I'm more than happy to come again.

The hotel is perfect place for relaxing, lot of wood and old style is really nicely combine with service and crew. Dinner was tasty and not expensive, breakfast was very nice and rich. People there are really kind and smile a lot - what is appreciated.

From the outside, it is a quaint old hotel. The interior is full of fine furniture and woodwork. It seems very comfortable. Our room was large and nicely decorated.
A closer look showed a darker side. In the bathroom, the sink stopper was out of adjustment, the shower drain was broken (but not leaking) and the radiator did not work. For several days we got lame excuses about why the radiator could not be turned on. We did get an electric space heater which was placed on the wet floor. Towels were thin, there were no washcloths and the soap/shampoo consisted of two 10 ml envelopes of watery, bad smelling liquid. I would expect something better in a Youth Hostel at 30€ a night. We wound up buying our own soap and shampoo - something I NEVER had to do in any of the hundreds of hotels in which I have stayed.
The Spa in our building was beautifully done. It is clearly new and seemingly no expense was spared, except on soaps, toiletries, creams, towels and bath robes. There were NO toiletries, soaps or creams. Both bathrobes had holes and torn belt loops and the towels (while bigger and newer) were FAR from spa quality.
The breakfast rooms were pleasant and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Food quality was above average, especially the meats, cheeses and bread products.
The room prices were reasonable and we would consider a return visit (after checking the competition a bit closer).
I understand that in a business, you usually cannot do every renovation at the same time. I praise management for trying to make their hotel nicer, but these things that annoyed us so much are tiny in comparison to the major improvements. It is unforgivable to aggravate guests over such trivial, low-cost items!
See my review of the hotel restaurant. We were much happier with our experience there and were very pleased with the food, service and value.

Room tip: There do not appear to be any bad rooms, unless ours was the only one with a heating problem.

Hotel is beautiful - rooms very comfortable, although it was very hot when we visited and the room was very hot during the night. We ate dinner in the evening which was really nice and breakfast was a fabulous buffet. It was very busy when we were there as there was a wedding on but the staff were absolutely brilliant even though they were clearly very very busy. Hotels staff were great in giving us advice about visiting Salzburg and even gave us bottles of water because of the heat.

Very nice hotek, very nice staff, excellent breakfast and reasonnable prices. What else could we wish for? I would definitely recommend this place for a night or a longer stay, it seems they are quite a few things to visit nearby. Very good experience overall.
