B and B on the Ranch lives up to its name: It’s on an easily accessible 113 acre plot. (It’s right on the main road, but somehow you don’t really hear the noise). It’s also less than a 5 minute drive to restaurants and the Port Perry main street where you can walk around the lake and easily while away an afternoon.

This is the perfect place to stay if you are someone who seeks adventure and experience over a private, cookie-cutter getaway. (Barb, the host, sleeps in the basement of the main house, but she also has a private barn for rent.) Barb’s big personality and keenness to please and involve you might seem overwhelming at first, but you will walk away wishing you could take her with you. She’s offering a unique experience at an absolute steal of a price. For me and my friend, her close proximity made the stay infinitely more enjoyable: I will never forget the moments spent sharing stories in the darkened sunroom watching her 9 horses we’d met earlier come up to the house. It’s a memory I wholeheartedly hope to relive before the summer is out.
