I would recommend cayenas del mar to anyone who is traveling to Samana and wants to go to el Cayo Levantado.
The good selection is good!! The amenities and facilities are clean. They have showers and changing rooms and clean bathrooms. You can spend the day at the beach or they can charter a boat to take you to El Cayo Levantado.
I travelled with a group of 20 people including 5 kids under the age of 5 years. Everyone enjoyed the time at Cayenas and our day at el Cayo Levantado.
The management and workers were very helpful.
Great place to spend a day in Samana to use as a home base.

It was recommended to me but I could not find it! More signs on how to get there should be available. I tried twice but couldn't find it.

Thank you for your interest in visiting Cayenas del Mar and we are so sorry that you were not able to find it! Did you arrive in a cruise or were you travelling on your own? Typically cruisers make their reservations in advance and we have a representative waiting fro them at the tender pier.

We appreciate your suggestion of more signage and will definitely take it into consideration.

Are you going to be in the Samana area again? If so, please let me know --- We would be happy to welcome you for a fantastic day!

Kindly,

My husband and I visited Samana by cruise ship and decided to spend the day at this beach club. The weather was rainy but we still had a great experience. Upon arrival were were greeted by dancers and musicians who performed native dance and song in beautiful costumes. The staff was very friendly and informative. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful experience. The transportation to/from the beach club was well arranged and flexible. Our driver made us feel like we were the one in charge of when we came and went not the clock. The shrimp buffett was authentic and well prepared. Very good eating. The beach was right out of a postcard. Wonderful turquois water and soft sand. The water temp was also perfect. The view was beyond fabulous and the highlight of the area. I would highly recommend this day to anyone visiting this island.

We were visiting Samana by cruise ship and decided to take the chance and book this beach day. We were told that we would be transported from the port by boat to the resort. On arrival there were lots of taxis and tours trying to take us to the resort. We waited ten minutes and Gio turned up and explained that as it was only us that booked that day that we would be going by bus.
Gio came with us and the bus turned down a dirt track, I began to wonder where we were going. It lead to a beautiful cove, spotlessly clean and welcoming. We went into the office to pay it was $16 for the transport to and from the port, our loungers and parasol and two drinks. We were taken down to the beach and Jonny the barman arrived carrying a basket of fresh white rolled up towels adornded with sprigs of fresh flowers. (lovely touches) Gio and Jonny told us if we needed anything to just shout! Some of my family members had the club sandwich and fries which was very good and reasonably priced. Plus large measures of Rum!!!
We spent the day relaxing and enjoying the music and chilled out atmosphere. Great clean bathrooms and showers. A family member also had a massage on the beach from a lovely friendly lady.
Perhaps I shouldn't be putting this review here because it's a hidden gem for anyone visiting Samana. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this lovely establishment. Thank you Gio and Jonny hope to see you again sometime!

We booked a Beach Day (11a.m. - 3 p.m.) with Lunch here when our cruise ship visited on Nov. 22. Our party consisted of my husband, daughters, sons-in-law and granddaughter (toddler). The booking was accomplished easily on the internet and we received a confirmation by e-mail. We arrived at the pier early (tendered), but were accomodated as we waited for transportation (by truck, not boat). Everyone was very welcoming and the areas were shown to us (beach, restaurant, showers, bar, etc.). Everything was as good or better as pictured in the website and very clean. There were only a few others there besides ourselves. The beach was clean and only slightly rocky--we soon found the sweet spot of the beach and spent all but lunch time in the water or on the sand! It was picturesque with lots of trees and plants and lawn. We had lunch at the restaurant (no buffet due to few folks), but we were allotted 3 appetizers, 6 entrees and 3 desserts for our party of six--as well as the 12 drink tickets. The food was wonderful and plentiful (except for chicken tenders--not wonderful)! We especially enjoyed the calimari, eggplant roll-ups, yucca fries and fish (whole) Samana style. The sandwiches were good also. I highly recommend this to cruisers who wish a pleasant day with water, sand, and food, and if we should return to Samana, we would almost surely rebook this day. We saw that some people had massages and hair braiding, but we did not inquire since that was not of interest to us. Our transport back to the ship was on a smaller truck, but was timely, leaving as soon as we had changed at about 3 p.m. Giovanni met us and stayed in the area (very good English), but we would have probably been able to communicate effectively, since everyone spoke enough English. Very relaxing day -- pleasant place, good food, and a great day for all of us!
