West Oxfordshire is not exactly short of gastropubs, but the Milton Hare really stands out.
We enjoyed an exceptional lunch there last Monday, The service provided by the young staff was quick, friendly and very helpful. We chose fish from the blackboard menu: our starters were calamari which were both crunchy and really tender (so different from the rubbery squid rings you often find) and a delicious salad of freshwater crayfish, parmesan and rocket; the cod loin and the fish pie which followed were equally good and the portions were generous. A couple of scrummy chocolate truffles to accompany our coffee cost just £1. Deservedly popular and well worth a special trip.
