Came for a wedding, which was marvelously handled and served with good food. Fantastic restaurant service. The rooms, especially in main building need touch up. It's not quaint, it's rustic. However tye rooms outside of main building are newer and more stylish, with breathtaking views of punta del este

We selected this hotel because it is off the beaten path, NOT in the hubbub of Punta del Este. It is a good location, definitely off the beaten path, with excellent views.
In the end, we did not love the hotel or the restaurant.
As some reviewers stated, perhaps it really is for lovers, a romantic getaway, not for others.

A Guatemala family visited Uruguay for the first time and arrived today in a cruise. I wanted to take them to the best spots in Punta del Este and of course Punta Ballena was on the list. I had been to this hotel and restaurant a few years back and thought the view and experience would be worth the visit.
I could not have been more right.
The hotel is fabulous, well looked after and neat. The test of its decoration is superb particularly if you like items and toys from back in the old days.
And the view. THE VIEW. Spectacular.
We had a full lunch. Service was outstanding. So much that the head waiter had the touch of offering to show my guests the mate, Uruguay's infusion beverage because he overheard me talking about the mate. That simple gesture made an impeccable service outstanding.
Food was excellent. And I mean excellent.
My guests are definitely coming back to this place and I will certainly as well.
Fantastic.

Prices like a royal palace but mediocre food and really terrible customer service. Not even close to 5 stars. There are many better options in and around Punta del Este. I'd definitely recomnend to stay elsewhere!
