Very nice hotel with all the facilities needed for snow holidays. They organize many activities such as snowshoes, husky dogs or snowmobile safaris.
The sauna open every afternoon is such a great way to end the day after hours of cross country skiing
Buffet for breakfast and dinner is quite good
I had forgotten an electronic device in my room while leaving the hotel, they did sent it back to me ... so nice !

Taking safety measures
The hotel was lovely. It is a family run hotel and it shows with the warmth and care. The welcome as we arrived was great. Easy to check-in and then given directions to our room. The room was warm and spacious with big queen bed, beautiful bathroom and lovely lounge. The food in the restaurant was excellent, with choices for vegetarians available in the salad and hot dish selections.
Being able to ski direct from the hotel grounds was a real bonus, with miles of routes starting on the doorstep.

We've recently returned from the 'Santa break' with Magic of Lapland and it was awesome! We booked in December 2016 and from that moment until we returned the experience has been faultless. We don't normally bother to write reviews as it just ends up being forgotten about but we felt we should really make the effort here, as this is a trip and holiday company not to be ignored! The Elves who met us at the airport in Lapland were amazing!! Especially Tessa who would entertain the kids on the trips with numerous Lapish folk tales. The hotel Yllashumina staff were just as welcoming and the food was lovely and in great abundance. The rooms were clean, spacious and warm with underfloor heating in the entrance and wet room which was a nice touch! The day trips were not as we feared (just tasters and then getting stung for the full experience), they were exactly as detailed on the website. Everyday was a new experience and trying to choose our favourite between the Huski safari, Santa visit, Reindeer safari and snowmobile safari was practically impossible as all were simply magical. Thank you so much to all the staff at Magic of Lapland for the best Christmas ever!!
We booked in August 2016 ready for Christmas 2017. Magic of Lapland company sent regular emails keeping us up to date until our trip. Excellent communication. Flight was great with British Airways. When we arrived everything was like a dream. We were given a personalised itinerary for our visit and everything was so well organised so we knew exactly where to be and when. All transfers to activities were included and it was full activities for a few hours, not just quick taster sessions. Guides were amazing and super friendly as are staff at the hotel. Food at the Yllashumina hotel was delicious! Even my fussy 7 y/o ate it. All meals were included, as well as snacks of sausages and biscuits while on excursions and hot berry juice (yum)! I would 100% recommend Magic of Lapland and hotel Yllashumina to anyone looking to visit Lapland. A dream come true. My children cried as they didn't want to come back home. We thought it would be a once in a lifetime trip, but now we would love to go back!
We have just returned from a fantastic trip away with magic of Lapland. The food was excellent; they were particularly mindful of individual needs. I am vegetarian and was asked each meal if there was enough for me and offered to make more if not. Children were also well catered for. The chef and barmaid were so friendly and welcoming, they even reserved a table for the family as they saw we were a large family group.
The cabins were clean and cosy.......bigger towels would have been a bonus though. The days out were well organised giving us a chance to have lots of new and exciting experiences and most importantly meet Father Christmas. We were also given time to play in the snow with sledges, skis and of course snowball fights with the elves. The visits felt exclusive as our group was quite small.
I highly recommend this for your magical 3 day Lapland visit to meet Father Christmas. Nothing we didn't enjoy.......others had been to Lapland before with another company and were really impressed with this trip in comparison......better food, accommodation and not so busy.

Stayed in superior room which was very comfortable with bedroom part and living room part with plenty of seats, dvd player and TV. Log burner in centre of room with firelighters, matches and wood for approx. 4 moderate fires. If you want more wood you can order from reception (€10). Small kitchen area with fridge, sink, coffee capsule machine and kettle. Plenty of storage space and lobby with drying cabinet. Veranda with seating outside room but too cold to use! Long windows in room which means, if the room faces north, you can monitor the night sky from the bed! (Room 49 faces north). Bathroom - 2 showers and basins but no bath. Free fast wifi in room.
Hotel offers various activities (not downhill skiing). Might be worth pre booking in busy times. Had private cross country skiing lesson with a very patient instructor! Lots of cross country routes to choose from starting at the hotel. It is possible to purchase a map {$10}. Snow shoe walking also on offer but we did not do with hotel.
Fantastic hotel and would love to stay there again.
