Paradise Beach Hotel

This was my first trip to Roatan and Paradise Beach was the perfect choice. We booked our trip through Tropical Discovery and could not have asked for a better hotel. We took the ferry from La Ceiba and then a 25-minute shuttle ride from the ferry station to West Bay. The hotel has villa style buildings and the rooms have balconies that overlook the foliage and ocean in the distance. The white serene sandy beaches with turquoise water are only footsteps from the property. On the beach you will find lounge chairs and umbrellas lined up in front of the hotel bar and security guards are on site all day. If you are looking for a fun atmosphere for drinks, head next door where you will find the Thirsty Turtle bar with great drink specials and live music. Other hotels such as the Mayan Princess, Henry Morgan Resort and Foster's are only a few hundred feet away down the beach and you can stroll to all of them.
The restaurant serves a very nice breakfast buffet with hot items such as eggs, sausage, pancakes and fresh juices. We had good pizza at Il Pomodoro and fabulous Sopa de Marinera at the Aqua restaurant. The prices are a bit steep and if you do not get the food package, you will spend $20-$50 for a meal for two people. The staff was very attentive and helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. There are also lots of options for boat tours and scuba diving through local vendors so the choices are endless. You get great service, a well-maintained property and postcard-perfect beaches at an affordable price. I highly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed at 2 hotels while in Roatan (Paradise Beach Club and Fosters. Refer to the Fosters page for that review and additional dive/dining tips). We booked the penthouse, but before our trip the hotel emailed to let us know that it was unavailable. We were a little bummed at first, but then found out that they upgraded us to a massive two-bedroom, three-story villa. The villa was immaculate and beautiful and had decks on each floor, a full-sized kitchen, and two bathrooms. There is room for six to sleep, so if you are coming with a group, this is a great option. It was nearly impossible to use travelers’ checks here. The signatures had to be exact. The use of travelers’ checks anywhere was pretty difficult due to the banks being so rigid with regard to reimbursing the vendors. Do the locals and yourself a favor and leave the travelers’ checks at home. We ended up using credit cards and taking advantage of the ATM at the Mayan Princess for most of the trip. The hotel bar has a pretty good happy hour and the restaurants onsite were very good. We were impressed with the breakfast buffet. If you are more a pool than a beach person, this hotel is perfect. There are two pools available and you would have them almost all to yourself! If you are a beach person, it gets better. This hotel fronts the best part of West Bay beach and is a 2-minute walk to the best snorkeling on the beach. Even when we moved down the beach to Fosters, we came back and rented chairs here for $5…just for the atmosphere. The hotel is next door to the Bananarama bar, which has excellent happy hours. Ask Mike the bartender to make a monkeylala or a fabulous watermelon margarita for you. If you stay here, be sure to head down the beach to dine at Bite on the Beach at least once. While you are there, pick up one of their beer bottle cozies. This helps keep your beer/soda cold, even on the hottest of days. Divers – Bananarama has a quality dive shop and their dive masters go out of their way to make each dive experience amazing. We recommend that you stay away from Los Rocas, the most unprofessional outfit on the beach.

I loved almost everything about this hotel. The beach is gorgeous, the room was small but nice, excellent service, beautiful gardens, very nice pools, food was decent, available internet. Unfortunately most of what I liked was ruined by the rock hard beds. You can have the most beautiful hotel in the world but if you can't sleep comfortably at night then it's not so great in the end. I have never been in a bed that was so hard in my entire life. If the beds were comfortable then I would give this hotel an excellent rating.

My friend and I just returned from 9 days at the Paradise Beach Club and could not have been happier.

The room reservation was booked on line and the pictures are exactly the same as the room we got. The room was the on the third floor (penthouse room) and was three bedrooms, two bathrooms with an open floor plan living room, dining room and kitchen. There was also a balcony that wrapped around the entire floor. The reservation included breakfast daily which was buffet style with the basics - eggs, pancakes, sausage, fruit, cereal, etc.

The pool was spotless and the beach was regularly raked and cleaned.

There were 4 restaurants on the property and were all good. Not gourmet but good. The service was outstanding throughout the entire hotel. Look for Frankie or his brother Freddy at the beach bar and ask for a Mojito. They are the best on West Bay Beach and believe me I tried them all!

If you plan on going in to West End for dinner (recommend Pinocchio's), ask the front desk to get a cab for you about 20 minutes before you want to leave. Taxis don't generally sit and wait for fares. Arrange a return trip with the driver. AND negotiate the price before you leave!

This was an awesome way to spend my birthday and definitely plan on going back again!

A few added notes...
The hotel provides drinking water in each room. I even used it to brush my teeth.

If you walk out of the drive way and to the left, there is a little deli/restaurant where you can pick up drinks and munchies for your room.

Coffee drinker? In the same shopping center - stop at the coffee shop and pick up some freshly ground Honduran coffee to bring home. The owner is a very nice lady who moved to Roatan from New Jersey.

TGI Divers - BEST dive operation. Ask to dive with GianPaul, Rico or Lindy.

Bite on the Beach - short walk down the beach is delicious!

Okay...so I do have ONE complaint. My one and only tho. The beds are hard. Concrete hard. But this seems to be a theme in Roatan.

We stayed at the Paradise Beach Resort for a week after the March break. Originally when we booked online, I booked for a specific room and the next day I received an email stating that my reservation could not be met and that I would have to move on the last night to another room. A little hesitant we went along with it. As it turned out, the last night they moved us to a condo type unit right on the beach. The porters arranged to move everything for us and there really was no disruption so I must commend the Paradise for their efficiency. We ate at the resorts pizza restaurant twice and the pizza was better then the pasta that we had. The breakfast buffet was adequate, it has the exact same food everyday which would have been nice to change up a bit. The resort is kept nice and clean and the rooms were very clean. The service was very good and overall our experience was enjoyable. We arranged for the Paradise to have a car rented for us and they promptly arranged to have a car delivered to the resort from Hertz. The entire process was flawless. The Paradise is a the far end of West Bay Beach and later in the afternoon, we could hear the disco noise from the Henry Morgan Resort down the way. Was glad we didn't stay at the Henry Morgan which we had originally booked and canceled due to conquest Vacations canceling our entire package trip...that's another story. You will not be disappointed with the Paradise Resort.
