Puerto Morelos is a laid-back, peaceful village located on the Mayan Riviera halfway between glitzy Cancun and bustling Playa del Carmen. It offers travellers a glimpse of how the Mayan Riviera once was.
The main attraction of the town is the healthy reef, which is protected by it’s National Park designation. Here, you can explore the reef with qualified guides and tours of limited size. Fish life is abundant.
The rest of the town is easy-going and offers visitors a relaxing Mexican experience. There are numerous excellent restaurants, shops and the only English new & used bookstore in the area.
Puerto Morelos makes an excellent day-trip or destination for a week or more. Consider starting and finishing your Mexican adventure here as the town is closer to the Cancun airport than Cancun is!
