Getting around Banjul is best on foot. The city does not have a public bus service.

The local Gele Gele van is the system of transport in the city most favored by locals and visitors. This is an inexpensive way to get around, but are not usually clean and can be crowded. Drivers and asistants don't speak much english at all, and you are likely to find local produce loaded inside and on the roof...this may still be in the form of a live chicken or goat!  There is no real schedule just ask a local.
