Montevideo visitors will find that it is a tourist-friendly place with people all over who are interested in helping travelers during their stay. One of the ways that this is exhibited is that there are several different tourist offices to choose from where visitors can get information about the area’s accommodations, attractions and events.
The local tourist office which offers information about Montevideo itself only is located at Explanada Municipal. It opens at eleven in the morning Monday through Friday and ten in the morning on weekends and it stays open until six in the evening every day of the week all throughout the year (although of course it is closed on major holidays). This center is the best place for Montevideo visitors to go if they are seeking information on guided tours and events highly specific to the city of Montevideo.
Travelers who are interested in obtaining information not only about Montevideo itself but also about the surrounding area will find that the best source for them is the Uruguay Tourism Ministry which is located at Avenida Libertador. It opens at eight in the morning all throughout the year, closing in early afternoon during Montevideo’s summer months (December through February) and staying open until eight in the evening during Montevideo’s winter months.
