While it may make sense if you are a native the street naming system can be challenging to some visitors. Streets have two components- a number and a direction. The number will tell you how many blocks you are away from the two cross streets Main or Center. The direction will tell you which direction from the center of town you are. Even a street which might have a name will still have a number and direction associated with it.

So you will have an address like 351 West Center Street for the Shakespeare Festival. This means that it is located on Center Street about 3 and 1/2 blocks west of Main.

The problem with using most navigating GPS systems is that they add an extra direction which really makes no sense. So you'll get something like N 1550 W, but street signs won't include the prefix (because it is not a part of the street name) and if it is a named street will sometimes leave off the the suffix direction

Since GPS navigation systems based on Navtec seem to have difficulty figuring it out, you may want to carry a paper map of the city and familiarize yourself with it before you arrive.
