Everything thought of. Such comfy beds - everyone slept really well and no-one wanted to leave. Loved the walks along the riverside and Sawmill Bank, in Newcastleton, and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area around the village. Spent as much time as possible in the garden, listening to the birds, watching the daily routines of the sheep and cattle, and star-gazing at night. Bliss. Perfect setting for anyone who loves the countryside. Very grateful the hosts agreed to us bringing extra dogs - it 'put the icing on the cake' of a special week.

Fantastic farmhouse fitted out with everything needed for a Christmas break, even decorated beautifully with Christmas tree. Real fire was a big plus and really spacious garden for Monty to run around in. Recommend arranging supermarket delivery as it's quite a trek to Hawick. Local Spar has good choices, but it is quite small as you would expect for a small village. Barbara was really helpful with local walking tips and the welcome drinks and mince pies were terrific.

The property is very spacious and comfortable with everything you will need. The views are breathtaking and if you are looking for peace and quiet then look no further. The local village has a number of shops and very friendly locals. Lovely walks in all directions. Barbara is a very helpful, friendly and obliging host and we absolutely loved our stay at the Yethouse and would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to escape from the hurly burly. We spent a lovely 4 days at the Yethouse. The house is clean, comfortable and very spacious and well-equipped. We loved being just down the road from the forest, and the weather was surprisingly kind to us for the whole stay! We definitely hope to return next year.

We really enjoyed our Christmas week at Yethouse, The house is in a perfect location, we loved its history. All the people we met in Newcastleton were friendly and welcoming.

A great stay in a wonderful homely property. We were blessed with good weather, it is an ideal location with the friendly village of Newcastleton 1mile away. We also visited the east coast of Northumberland and Edinburgh and of course Kielder Forest, so plenty to see and do. Friendly host with lots of knowledge of area.

A traditional house in a fabulous location. The house was very clean, well presented and comfortable. We have stayed in many different Home Away holiday homes and this one was exceptional (it had comfortable sofas which is so important and so often overlooked by owners- it makes a difference). We were welcomed by Barbara who helpfully explained about the ins and outs of the house and was just next door if we needed her. We were given our privacy though so no problem there. If you are looking for peace and quiet and/or the outdoors life, this is the place for you. We had a wonderful time and will be back.

We have always wanted to discover wonderful Northumberland, so glad our adventure started with the Yethouse. Barbara was on hand with a weather update whilst we traveled, and there to greet us on our arrival. The house was everything the pictures promised and much more, fully equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday. Barbara gave us lots of information about the local area and beyond, suggesting places to visit and local shops for essentials like the butcher for amazing pies! We had great days out birdwatching, walking and visiting gardens and even a distillery. We had great weather most days but even on the couple of rainy days we got out and about. Kielder forest is nearby for good walks and wildlife watching, we were lucky enough to spend some time in a hide watching playful red squirrel. We are now looking to return in the autumn to see the amazing dark sky. We will be booking a place at the Kielder Observatory and hoping the Yethouse will once again be our cosy base. Thanks Barbara and Paul for providing a fantastic, well thought out house for us.
