This is a great house with a great garden.  Good for dog walks with lots of brilliant activities nearby.  We will definitely recommend the house.  The lemon drizzle cake was fab! We hope to come back soon!

This was our third time staying at the charming Yethouse. Each time we have visited we have had a very warm welcome from Barbara. The children throughly enjoyed staying at the Yethouse and it was very festive with Christmas decorations and lights. Staying at the Yethouse allows the family to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy cosy nights by the log fire. We can't wait to visit again.

The Yethouse is a fantastic self catering cottage in a rural location, within 15mins walk to Newcastleton. The cottage was a real home from home, with everything you need and more, to a very high quality and with friendly hosts. Great location for walking, running or mountain biking in the local forest, with lots of trails to choose from. Road biking routes are numerous with both flat and hilly routes to choose from and the Yethouse has secure bike storage. We had a fantastic time with our two dogs, lots of walks, day trips and cosy evenings in front of the log fire. Newcastleton may be small, but it punches above its weight with everything you need, a local butcher, cafes, bars, restaurants, and a small supermarket. Excellent holiday, we will be back.

Had a very relaxing comfortable weekend at the Yethouse with friends .The property was very clean and well stock with everything you could possibly need ,The property was very roomy with 2 sitting rooms both with TV’s and there was an selection of games and books. The enclosed garden was safe and perfect for dogs and children. The property is in beautiful countryside and although it is rural it is an easy walk into Newcastleton which is a lovely village with an excellent butcher as well as a few other shops where you can get anything you may need .Barbara was very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed her lemon drizzle cake which was a lovely touch . I would certainly recommend the Yethouse and look forward to going back.

Well appointed family house, which contained everything you needed for a relaxing stay, whatever the weather. we used the "meal cooked for you" suggestion of the owner - provided by a local café - gorgeous food and plenty to feed the hungry people (o: on first arriving. Great location for walking in the surrounding beautiful countryside or travelling a little further afield; We had a smashing time at both Rock UK and the Kielder observatory

Perfect house in a perfect location. The house is warm and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. If you like walking, trail running and all forms of biking, then this is the place for you. And with the added luxury of being away from the madding crowds. Barbara and Paul are very friendly and helpful, with Lemon Drizzle a holiday highlight. Our 7th visit, can’t wait till our next.

What a lovely house. Huge, but still comfortable. Lots of space for everyone to spread out into the various rooms, plus a large garden. My husband loved the luxury of having a desk to work at while the rest of us went out enjoying ourselves! Very well-equipped. Helpful owners. Plenty of outdoor activities made it a great place to stay - forest walks from the door, bike rides from the door (on quiet roads or on forest trails in Newcastleton Forest) and Rock UK (Whithaugh Park) for activities such as canoeing, zipwire, archery, swimming). We loved it and plan to return.

The scenery around the Yethouse was just magnificent! Barbara and Paul greeted us upon our arrival with a delicious lemon cake which we all enjoyed and was especially good with my morning coffee while taking in the beautiful scenery. The town of Castleton was fun to explore and the people were very friendly. I highly recommend the Yethouse for your stay in Newcastleton!

Large, comfortable family size home from home with an added bonus of enclosed garden for dogs. We loved the peace and quiet of this house. Well equipped with everything we needed. Good selection of games for all ages. Biggest selection of books, CD'S and DVDS we have seen in any holiday property. Recharged our batteries and well rested. Thank you for warm welcome and sharing this with us.

We stayed here for 1 week from the 15th July 5 adults, 3yr old and 14 month old We holiday every year in Scotland which allows us to get to see our nieces and their families and we always invite them to stay to give them a wee holiday. Yethouse was utterly brilliant and perfect. Isolated enough to give you peace and quiet but close enough to the village of Newcastleton to walk. The house lay out was perfect and gave us all enough space plus the sound proofing from each room enabled you to think no one else was there with you. Everything we could possibly need was in the house. The rooms were spotless and the beds very comfortable. one of the most wonderful views any garden could give you. We were blessed with wonderful weather but this place would be perfect even in the worst of climates, with two real fires and plenty of books and dvds and games to keep you occupied. Barbara has thought of everything and was kind enough to make us a lemon drizzle cake which went down very well. We have stayed in many rental cottages in Scotland and the rest of the UK over the years and this is up there with the best of them.

About the neighbourhood
The farmhouse sits above the village and is remote and rural, not for glitz and glamour. Truly a get away from it location; clean air, no noise but birdsong and farm animals, huge landscapes, and dark skies. Surrounded by lots of history locally and in our border towns where textiles are still the dominant industry. Stunning cloth and designs can be bought. Local distillery for whisky and gin. Eating out is possible locally all year, our 2 cafes and hotels serve quality local produce every day.
Getting around
A car is advisable.
