Holiday Rental House
Thi lovely Gothic House Cottage is part of a Grade II listed building, and has the benefit of an open and airy extension overlooking the garden whilst retaining the cosy cottage feel. A perfect base from which to explore the rich heritage of West Suffolk, with the added bonus of the use of an outdoor, heated swimming pool and grass tennis court in the warmer months. The cottage is situated opposite the imposing Church of St Peter and St Paul in Clare, which sits in the Upper Stour Valley. It is ideally placed, just a five minute walk from the shops, restaurants and pubs in Clare and within walking distance of the Country Park, where the remains of Clare Castle stand. With so much on the doorstep, you can park the car up for your stay until it's time to head home. With so much on the doorstep, you can park the car up for your stay until it's time to head home. The ground floor of the cottage has an open and airy living space with a large dining kitchen and garden room with floor to ceiling windows providing lovely views over the extensive garden at the rear. The sitting room has an electric, living flame stove to gather around when night time draws in. Upstairs, both bedrooms overlook the church and have the choice of the first floor bathroom with separate shower, or the ground floor shower room. Bedroom two has the flexibility of a super-king size bed which can be separated into twin single beds on request. Outside, a small, enclosed garden and courtyard has access to a shed to store bicycles if you fancy exploring the local countryside on two wheels; along with use of an additional, larger garden beyond. The outdoor, heated swimming pool is available for use from mid-May until the end of August by arrangement with the homeowners. There is also a grass tennis court which although not Wimbledon championship standard, guests are welcome to use and enjoy as well, again from mid-May to the end of August. Additional Information: Sorry, no dogs. Infants welcome, please bring your own cot and high chair. Stair gate available on request. Swimming pool available between May and September. Please contact the Bookings Team to arrange this. There is restricted head height over the bath in the bathroom upstairs.More

Gothic House Cottage is a beautiful, private, extremely well equipped Cottage that includes a very high standard of fixtures and furnishings in a lovely small town, the photographs are all true to life but do not really do the property the justice it deserves. It is really very spacious inside and out with beautifully presented gardens and views, the owners who live in the adjacent property are an absolute delight, very friendly and helpful whilst maintaining their distance. The bells from the Church opposite the Cottage do chime on the hour and every quarter but they did not disturb us at all, it was actually really quite nice to hear them. There are a few shops in the town and a couple of really nice pubs to go to (The Globe in particular is well worth a visit although they do not provide food), there is also a very well stocked Co-op for essentials. The only downside we could find is that the property does not have a private driveway, however, there is on street parking outside the cottage and we did not experience any issues in obtaining a space at any time. Clare is also well located to visit other cities and places of interest around Cambridge, should we find ourselves in Clare again we would not hesitate to stay at this cottage. It was delightful one morning to get up, wander down into the lounge, open the lovely oak glass doors and watch a wild Deer wandering freely around the garden - absolutely beautiful!
